With the increase of immigrants from Mexico and other third world nations, leprosy has now become a concern to health officials in the United States. Cases of the ancient disease, in its early stages, are often misdiagnosed by doctors as eczema or diabetes. Add to the problem that the medical profession has "very little experience in treating the disease."

Leprosy is easily treatable in this day and age. Nice scare tactic though.

This is not new, it's been a concern for many years now, no one wants to talk about it for fear of being called a racist.

Only if caught early and if they're misdiagnosing it as psoriasis or eczema, it's not being caught early.

    Unlocking the secrets of leprosy...

    Leprosy bacteria use 'biological alchemy'
17 January 2013 - Infectious bacteria have for the first time been caught performing "biological alchemy" to transform parts of a host body into those more suited to their purposes, by a team in Edinburgh.
