LeBron James on why Ohio voted for Trump: Lack of education

You mean like the reality of violent crime rates among african americans..?

That, and the reasons why black people have much higher violent crime rates.

Let me guess, it's white people's fault.

Sigh...

It's a lot more complicated that "it's this group of people's fault". But I doubt you're interested.

You think it's because of systemic racism, right? Go on, spit it out.

As I said, it's far more complicated than you're every going to be able to get your head around. So, I'll just leave you with single sentences.
Just because blacks with college have as hard a time getting a job as whites with prison, and they are are four times more likely to be stopped by cops and 4 times as likely to get shot no problem...

Afraid of having your worldview shattered?

Not at all.

Just part of my "worldview" is that when people come on here and they write in short sentences with no content, they're usually just looking for some entertainment.

I'm more than capable of having a debate especially on the topic of race issues in america.

OP- absolutely correct these are mainly people who are pretty ignorant of the facts and racist to boot mainly... Got most of their fake news from the Russians and Rush Limbaugh and fox etc etc. You know like most of you...

Ohio, like other swing states, voted Trump because the Obama economy FAILED them. Had they been doing better, they may have voted for lying, crooked Hillary.
No lies not crooked Obama economy was just fine same as now, Dupe.

Millions of voters in swing states disagree with you, dumbass.

Then let's see if my instincts were correct or not.

Some of the main reasons why black people are having such a difficult time are:

Number one: Everything boils down to number one eventually. The way the political system is set up. There are two political parties. This is clearly not enough for the difference of opinions and lives out there in the USA.

You have the Republican Party who clearly don't represent people in poverty, even if they manage to convince them to get votes. The Democrats come across as the party of the poor, and the party of minorities, but they're simply not doing this job at all. There really is no other choice out there. Only 54.7% of people eligible to vote bothered to do so. This is pathetic and shows that many people feel neither party offers them anything. When only 20% of the people actually really get to vote for the President anyway, in 12 states, you can understand this.

The problem we saw in the election is that the candidates went after those people who could swing the election, and that was a limited number of people. In a system where everyone's vote counts, then different parties would appeal to these different demographics, and they'd push for their rights, for dealing with their problems. But the two main parties don't, because they don't need to.

Number two on my list is:

The attitude of America. The expression "Everyone can make it in America", it might be true to a certain extent, the problem is that not everyone can make it at the same time. If one person makes it, like Lebron James, there will be thousands of failures. To simply dismiss dealing with problems because you believe that everyone can make it, is causing the US a lot of problems.

Number three is:

Partisan politics. Maybe this is number one, as partisan politics is a result of having two political parties. But partisan politics seems to make winning the politics more important than standing up for any principles that someone might actually have.

Number four is:

The rich and the politicians working together to make sure the politicians get rich and the rich get richer. The Koch brothers getting the Supreme Court (I wonder which justices made it rich out of that one) to allow unlimited spending on politics is killing the US. It's not just the Koch brothers spending, but they're spending the most, and they're forcing people like Soros to up his spending too.

They spend a lot of money on advertising. Literally telling people what to think. People buy McDonalds because of advertising, and they buy the political message because of advertising too. The Koch brothers have stopped looking to the man at the top as the most important person. They're looking at the message. Get the message out and into people's heads, then the people will vote for the people you want them to vote for.

This means that the issues getting into politics aren't the issues that people actually would care about if they were somewhere else, what they think is important is what they're told to think is important.

With the case of the protests, how much money do you think is going into telling people on both sides what to think?

Then let's see if my instincts were correct or not.

let me go ahead and address your post point by point just to prove you wrong about me.

What you said about both parties not representing the people is true and a majority of voters on the right side of the aisle seem to agree otherwise they would have voted for the establishment darling Jeb instead of Trump. The left overwhelmingly voted for the establishment icon Hillary Clinton. As for there not being any other choice, what about the green and libertarian parties..? As for the ones who didnt vote, thats their problem. Many people simply dont care about politics, don't care who's president...either they're jaded with the process or are too self absorbed to take a moment out of their day to vote. Some were more worried about ideological purity of the candidate than beating the opposition so abstained.

Equality of opportunity not equality of outcome. You can't guarantee success for everyone. No political party can make good on crazy promises like that. Life is pretty damn good in America even the poorest of us live comfortably compared to most of the world.

Number three is:

Partisan politics. Maybe this is number one, as partisan politics is a result of having two political parties. But partisan politics seems to make winning the politics more important than standing up for any principles that someone might actually have.

In my opinion, Democrats have no principals. Sounds to me like you're still mad about republicans voting for Trump, the most atypical republican candidate in history because he had multiple divorces and said mean words and wasnt a bible thumper.

The left runs the mainstream media and you're going to sit there and bitch about the Koch brothers who if I recall correctly were against trump from the get go? There's no right wing news outlet that can compare to the constant, unrelenting 24/7 far left narrative pushed by the mainstream media. Does Soros fund CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, Reuters, the New York Times, Buzzfeed, Salon, etc etc etc AND google and facebook too?!

As for the protests, you are sorely mistaken if you think people are only reacting to it because Breitbart and Fox news told them to...

Independents, moron.

Anyway, literally none of that has anything to do with the problems affecting black people in this country. Everything you said basically boils down to republicans completely suck and democrats arent socialist enough. That America sucks and Americans are stupid and gullible. That hard work is pointless.

The number 1 problem affecting black people is growing up in single parent households. It breeds poverty and criminal behavior.

First, while there is choice, there isn't choice. It's like walking into a restaurant knowing that they're only going to have two meals on the menu. You can order from the thirty things on the menu, but what you get given will be one of two things.

Yes, some people don't care. Other people feel the system doesn't represent them. The establishment don't care, they're fine having a smaller base to convince to vote for them.

No, you can't have success for everyone, which is my point. In the US it seems that there are too many people so far below success and there are a list of reasons why these people are stuck at the bottom. A society knows there will be people who aren't smart enough to rise up, people with mental problems, people who don't care too much. Some people will always fail. But other people might fail in the US where they'd do okay for themselves in another country. But somehow the US manages to succeed at creating areas of society that are just full of hopelessness.

Yes, Democrats have no principles, and Republicans have no principles. You can see their compartmentalization going on every day. The Bill of Rights is amazing when it comes to guns, but when it comes to other things they hate it. But they'll still tell you they're patriots because only they love the country, even though they hate large parts of the country.

The left doesn't run the mainstream media. There are MORE left wing media outlets, but on the right, they have fewer but larger numbers.

Fox has a majority of TV news viewers, but is one outlet. Whereas on the left there are various with lower figures.

However that's not the point. The internet is throwing up new ways of reaching people. I remember seeing gun magazines and seeing articles in there, and then going to debate the Second Amendment and you'd know what type of article had made it into this week or month's edition because that argument was getting massively overused.

No. I'm not sure you got my point at all.

Republicans suck, Democrats suck, the system sucks. Look at Proportional Representation in other countries, and it throws up CHOICE which in turn throws up more political parties which in turn turns up more oversight and politicians can't just rest on the laurels.

I actually agree with most of what you said.

My main disagreement is about the media. It is absolutely is run by the left or should I say is heavily biased in that direction. Not only the news but also movies, TV shows, the music industry and even videogames.

The awkward social justice virtue-signalling in the videogame Skyrim or the unmistakable anti-capitalist undertone in the game Fallout4 probably wouldn't seem like a big deal to some but when you're socially conservative like me and millions of others, it's really obnoxious having stuff like that forced on you when all you want to do is kill dragons with magical swords or whatever. As a kid I liked watching StarTrek:TNG but as an adult I realize how...communist...the federation is. Don't even get me started on the abject moral depravity rampant in Hollywood movies. Even Sesame Street has jumped on the social justice indoctrination bandwagon, that's just wrong.

Plus you have internet super corporations like Google and Facebook which absolutely lean hard left. Google goes around censoring and de-platforming edgy right wing content but Antifa and Isis loving stuff is allowed to thrive. The meager right wing media outlets just can't compete with all of that. It's overwhelming and more than a bit scary. The media exerts an enormous influence on our society and a lot of it seems like propaganda.

The media is biased, of course it is, but because people WANT their media biased. Look around here, half the people on this forum can't cope with any news that isn't as they think it should be. They expect news to favor their bias.

Scoreboard: Tuesday, Sept. 26

Fox News at 9pm has 781, MSNBC has 643, CNN 419, so Fox doesn't have the majority at this time. At 5pm they have about 45% share of the viewing figures. But then searching they said that Fox's average age of viewers was 68, probably all in bed by 9pm.

Yes, some like Google are quite left leaning, Facebook I don't think is. I think Facebook struggles to be balanced, things can go either way and people will make their claims as to the direction it goes. I think Zuckerburg is on the left, but I don't think he uses Facebook to promote the left.

But the issue is there are plenty of sources of media. Each side is trying to use the media to its own advantage, and generally what happens is that people get taken in hook line and sinker. They make their own choice about which biased media to listen to, and then they get bought completely.

Newspapers are probably for those who read, so it wouldn't surprise me that certain sections of society wouldn't read them at all, like Trump supporters. Many on here can't get past the first few sentences that I write. If you write long posts, they ignore most of it and just pick and choose some choice soundbite to attack.

The highest daily circulation is 1 million, the NY Times. Maybe 10 million copies of newspapers are sold a day in a country of 330 million people. Doesn't say much. But then the internet makes it easier. I haven't bought a newspaper for years.

Yeah fox's viewership is mostly older people. I could have told you that without even looking it up. Fox was purged, cleaned out from top to bottom by a long running leftist smear campaign and is only a shadow of their former selves. Not that their old self was all that great to begin with.

It's target audience is still Fuddy duddy neoconservative warmongering baby boomers who thought they could pray all the bad stuff away, who for decades let the left run roughshod over everything they supposedly hold dear... Fox news comments section on facebook is full of the most cringy all-caps patriotism anywhere on the net. The only thing worth watching is Tucker Carlson and even he bends over backwards to appease race baiters who nevertheless accuse him of being a white supremacist.

There's literally nothing edgy or controversial about fox news whereas the left wing media paints trump supporters and everyone who doesn't fall in line 100% with the democrat's agenda as literal NAZIS. Go out and punch one today! No mainstream media organization has the balls to stand up to the left anymore, only independent voices on youtube do and they're dropping like flies under the censorship of google.
