Islamic State captured the city of Sinjar in Iraqi Kurdistan more than a year ago. Since then, Kurdish fighters known as Peshmerga have been preparing to take back the city. VOA’s Kawa Omar spoke to some Peshmerga commanders and fighters about their preparations to fight the IS group. Two of the fighters are from Canada and Sweden.

Kurdish Fighters Ready to Take Back Their City

Too bad the "Iraqi Army", trained and equipped at great expense by America aren't as prepared to fight as the peshmerga. I can't help but think again of the worst post-invasion decision made by America in the initial months of the war - Bremer's order #1 - disband Saddam's forces, driving 10s of thousands of trained soldiers and thousands of commanders to the insurgency - oh the coulda shoulda wouldas of those early days.
