Khartoum Calls on Washington to Exclude Medical Equipment from Embargo

A request has been made by the Minister of Health on Wednesday the United States of America to exclude medical equipment and all aids of heath work from the economic embargo imposed on Sudan and to remove all the obstacles disrupting their entry to the country.

Bahar Idris Abu Garda reviewed in a meeting that with the ambassador of the African Union to Sudan and the American Embassy Charge dAffaires to Sudan, spheres of health and medical cooperation with the European Union and the United states of America as well as boosting cooperation in the field of medical and drugs supplies.

A press bulletin issued by the Ministry yesterday said that the Minister demanded excluding the systems, medical and all aids of the medical work as well as removing all the obstacles disrupting their entry to Sudan.

The meeting touched on means related to providing Sudan with raw materials to address the issues of medicine manufacturing, the entry of systems and medical requirements along with the procedures related to their entry.

The meeting reviewed boosting cooperation between Sudan and the countries of European Union and America, asserting support of developing relations with Washington and the countries of Europe.

According to the bulletin, Abu Garda received a promise from the ambassadors of the European Union and America to work on realisation of Sudan’s demand to cooperate with their countries in the field of health work as well as removing impediments on the way of this cooperation.

Present in the meeting were representatives from the Central Bank of Sudan, the Ministry of Foreign affairs and the Secretary General of the federal council of Drugs and Toxicities and the Manager of Medical supplies.
