Sources: Kelly didn't know Trump would publicize that Obama didn't call when his son died - CNNPolitics
"As far as other presidents, I don't know, you could ask Gen. Kelly, did he get a call from Obama? I don't know what Obama's policy was," Trump said during a Fox News radio interview.
CNN asked the White House to talk to Kelly about this issue, but they declined to make him available. Kelly did not respond to a direct request from comment from CNN and the White House declined to make any statement on the record.
Kelly, the highest-ranking military official to lose a child in Iraq or Afghanistan, has tried to keep his son's death private.
Kelly, who is regularly seen next to the President at events, was noticeably absent from Trump's events on Tuesday afternoon after he made his comments about the retired Marine four-star general's son.

Four days later, the grieving father with the four-decade military career asked a Marine Corps officer not to mention Robert’s death during an event in St. Louis.

But Kelly, whose son was killed in Afghanistan in 2010, attended a 2011 White House breakfast for Gold Star families with his wife. The two were seated at first lady Michelle Obama's table, NBC's Peter Alexander reported.

Right wingers are trying to use Kelly's name as a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card. Kelly this and Kelly that.
They don't understand the feelings this man had for his son and how he felt when his son died. You can't use Kelly's name when he hasn't come out and said anything publicly. Just because, up to now, he's been silent, doesn't mean he agrees.
Trump started this. He brought it up first. Instead of being embarrassed, Republicans want to drag a grieving father into their mess. It really is deplorable.
