Keep Grant on the $50 bill

Keep the money the way it is. Changing the faces to bow to popularity will set a BAD precedent.

I was all for keeping Grant until BikerLoser chimed him with his characteristically stupid opinion.
But I think we need to bring back the $500 bill and we can put Reagan there, on the big daddy note.

Ever hear of Reagan's dream of a 500 ship Navy? He tried to make it happen and damn near broke the Navy. Why? Simple........too many ships and not enough people, some ships (carriers) had to troll up and down the waterfront looking for certain specialist rates to con into cross decking with them just so they could pull out on cruise.

Matter of fact, one of the more stinging insults you can say to a sailor is "you're a product of Reagan's 500 ship Navy, ain't ya?"

Want to know why? Because the standards were lowered during his tenure. I served through that shit, and know of which I speak.

No. There are only 2 other presidents who were worse than Reagan, and that would be Nixon and George Bush Jr.

Sorry you feel that way.

For myself, I rest comfortably at night knowing that the firepower from a single US Carrier group can lay waste to the entire Russian conventional military in under 15 minutes.

You would feel differently about the Navy if you had gotten a daily grease gun enema like LikkerSnarler

If either of you fucking 'tards would have served during Reagan's second term, you would have actually dealt with it.

Going on cruise with less manning than what you're supposed to have sucks, because it results in double watches, which wears down the crew, which is a safety issue.

If Crusted Turd Skank and Rabid Lie would have been anything other than cowardly pussies, they'd know that.

If you want a 20th century President on the $50, put Calvin Coolidge on. He's the best 20th century President out of the whole lot.

Reagan did say that Coolidge was his inspiration. I think it's a very good choice for a very glossed over President.

How about we just remove all Presidents from the money?

Yeah, we can put Sacagawea on the one dollar coin. That was a winner.
How about Nancy Pelosi on the two-dollar bill?

Let me try again. How about we just remove all people from the money?

That's not a bad idea. None of our bills in Costa Rica at the moment have presidents, though three do have people (one a celebrated scientist, another an old historian and Post Master, and another a famous educator). But our 5,000 colon bill doesn't have any people and its by far our coolest bill:

We're getting a whole new set next year though, and they do have mostly presidents (though the backs of each celebrate the different ecosystems found in Costa Rica). But there's not really much reason to have presidents, who nobody can agree on except for a few. You guys could put make bills based on celebrating each region and putting, you know, important species in them, or just institutions, or monuments, or ideas. There's no reason why only power should be celebrated. Why not a bill with Horace Mann, or Mark Twain, or Henry David Thoreau?

I have no problem at all with having the people who risked everything to set this country up pictured on our currency.

Interesting...

Reagan took credit for the release of the hostages from Iran, even though the agreement to release the hostages were the result of Carter's efforts.

Reagan, in my opinion, approved the sale of arms to Iran.

He'd broken the cardinal rule... WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS!!!

Reagan approved the support of Afghan rebels in their fight against the Soviets. Those rebels went on to support the Taliban and Al Qaeda.

Sorry, but I would rather put his face on my toilet paper, than on any form of currency. Food for thought.

There has been no President in the history of America with a more American name than U.S. Grant.

If Reagan gets on the fifty, will that be the only currency accepted by Iranian arms merchants? Will the Reagan fifty be made of pollution causing trees? Can the Reagan fifty be redeemed for vegetables like ketchup? If someone steals a batch of Reagan fifties, can they claim they have no recollection of the theft? Will convicted felons like Oliver North be able to use Reagan fifties to post bail?

Tell you what, you get any of those nasty ole $50 bills with Reagan on them and you send them to me.
What a dumbshit. Everybody on the currency had detractors at the time. Grant himself was a known drunk

Some folks in Congress want to replace Grant with Reagan. I don't believe this is going anywhere, but I just want to point out my opposition.

We can put Reagan on a $200 bill, which we may need soon, with inflation set to increase with the huge deficits we are running.

But Grant is a great hero, and should continue to be honored for his accomplishments.

Grant was a good military commander. He's not a hero. He enforced unconstitutional military violence against people that no longer wanted to be part of a union they freely joined, and were just as Constitutionally free to leave.

Amen!
