Most older Americans know nothing about Kanye West or what he does. Creative tastes change; artists emerge that serve and entertain each generation. But Boomers struggle to make sense of what is happening With Kanye West in light of his support for a duly elected president and the plunge into racialist character assassination of some of his brethren among African Americans.
If Boomers shake some cobwebs they may remember Paul Robeson, a black star athlete, singer, lawyer, actor and civil rights advocate who had sympathies for the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Robeson actually moved to the Soviet Union and received awards from the soviet government.
Robeson was driving home the point that there was no authentic freedom and equality for blacks in the US. There are no recollections of Robeson being labeled a token Negro for the Russians by blacks in the US. He did suffer the slings and arrows of McCarthyism in the 1950’s but so did many white entertainers.
Robeson is rightly hailed as a pioneer of civil rights in the US and he put everything on the line unlike counterfeit appropriators of the movement like Colin Kaepernick who ride Robeson’s hard work in order to salvage washed up careers due to a lack of talent.
Civil Rights have made great strides in America thanks to the efforts of people like Paul Robeson and Jackie Robinson who faced real racism head on. But Civil Rights became a lucrative industry for some and it’s morphed into a racket that fosters a fearful plantation mentality pushed on the African American community by the Democratic Party to maintain power.
Kanye West has committed the sin of thinking for himself and that makes him a renegade Negro who is straying off the plantation. In the modern Democratic Party African Americans are not encouraged think for themselves; they are told what to think by the plantation masters in the democratic machine.
The Democratic Party would be out of business without a guaranteed 90% of the black vote so it uses fear and ignorance to keep it. Kanye West has millions of fans and followers which makes him a threat to the treasure of the plantation status quo.
They have no choice but to brand him as a token or a stupid Negro because they know they are being exposed as the charlatans they have always been. It’s over for the democrats.
