James Gunn was fired over tweets after calling for Roseanne to be fired ..... karma is a mean bitch...

Michael Ian Black is about to get bounced too....the Trump Hater is about to meet Karma too...

Nolte: Fired 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Director James Gunn Has Bigger Problems than 'Old Tweets'

I believe in second chances, most especially for myself, and despise our current culture that allows social media mobs to dismantle lives and careers over bad words.

But guess who disagrees with me?

That would be James Gunn himself, who called for Roseanne Barr to be fired over a single terrible tweet.

He has since deleted the tweet (Gee, I wonder why?), but on May 29, Gunn wrote, “I wish some of these so-called defenders of liberty would start to understand what freedom of speech is AND isn’t. Roseanne is allowed to say whatever she wants. It doesn’t mean @ABCNetwork needs to continue funding her TV show if her words are considered abhorrent.”

And…

On March 29, and only because she called someone a “whiner,” Gunn publicly called for the destruction of Laura Ingraham’s career via a boycott.

“I hope @hulu stops advertising … on the Laura Ingraham show, so I can watch it. Online bullying & shaming of teenagers should not be supported by Hulu. Let them know,” he tweeted to his half-million followers.

----

Gunn might have stopped joking about raping children, stopped joking about ass-raping his friends, about Mexicans, the Holocaust, AIDS, and how kiddie porn gives him an orgasm, but he only set aside those words in order to use the new words that built the petard he just hoisted himself on.

Gunn built, energized, authorized, and whipped up the mob mentality that just dismantled what was, a mere 24 hours ago, one of the most promising careers in Hollywood.

I don't condone Gunn's tweets, but Disney knew about them before they hired him to make the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

He came clean about them and said he regretted them and had grown to be a better person. Yet now, after he made them a shit ton of money, they fire him for something they already knew about.

/----/Gunn was right about Freedom of Speech. Rosanne has the right to say it but no one should be forced to pay for it or even listen to it. Roseanne made a bad joke and she apologize for it. There is no need to destroy her career.

And Gunn has every right to criticize Ingraham for the same reason. It's his right to call for a boycott. It's my right to ignore him.

As far as the rest of the things he said, I don't know anything about it but it sounds horrible.

He helped create this hysteria.

What karma? Disney already knew about his tweets BEFORE they hired him to make the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. His tweets were on public record back then. The tweets were vile and a poor attempt at pushing the envelope humor that fell flat. Firing him NOW 4+ years after they already knew about it and hired him, isn't helping to save face for Disney.

How do you know they knew about them? They went back to 2008 and some of them were replies. You'd have to go through a lot of tweets to get to them. Do you know for sure they knew about them or are you assuming they did?

We all know liberals are full of shit at every level...…

I love seeing this liberal ass wipe get his...…

Is life good or what...

How do I know? I read... A LOT.

There was an initial VERY public controversy about Gunn's tweets back in 2012, before Disney hired Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy which was released in 2014.

You know it was the same case with Roseanne...…

Except what she said wasn't as vile.....

Okay from what I can see, that was about gays/lesbians and from a blog post. That was not about Disney and all those really old Tweets. I still have no knowledge that Disney knew about those tweets related to children--which is one of their chief audiences--when they contracted with him. Do you?

I agree with this. And if you want to say that racism is as vile as pedophilia (ew, no), then at least you must say that one is criminal and one is not. Pedophilia is criminal; racism is not. Lamentable. But not criminal.

I'm not for outrage mobs and don't like this witch hunting via Twitter and other social mediums in general. But when it comes to pedophilia I'm more on the fence about it. Especially since I'm a teacher.

No it isn't the same. Gunn's happened BEFORE he was hired and it was already out in the public then. Roseaanne's happened while she was working.

It was all over the news. I'm sorry but I'm not going to do all the research for you. I keep up with the news.

Okay but on advanced search regarding his tweets I couldn't find anything before two days ago. I don't think these particular tweets were public knowledge before then. I have no reason to believe Disney was aware of them previously. At any rate if they were, they didn't want anyone to know they were.

Lol
Political correctness is for the so called “Self-righteous”, till it’s not

How long ago was it that the man put out there whatever it is that he had to say about rape and pedophilia? The reason why I want to know is because if making light of such things is something that he doesn't do anymore, then that right there should be taken into consideration. If people are going to look at transgender people in the way that they are now compared to how they used to be, why not this James Gunn guy?

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly
