{{ “Health care fraud is a betrayal of vulnerable patients, and often it is theft from the taxpayer,” Sessions said. “In many cases, doctors, nurses, and pharmacists take advantage of people suffering from drug addiction in order to line their pockets. These are despicable crimes."

All defendants are accused of billing patients for treatments that either weren't necessary or were never rendered.

In addition, nonmedical personnel, which includes beneficiaries, patient recruiters, and co-conspirators, were given financial kickbacks for providing information to doctors and nurses that they could use to make false claims.

California conservative? Of course that kind of fraud takes place in retirement states.

From your first link:

Conclusions and Relevance Support for the Republican candidate in the 2016 election is a marker for physical conditions, economic circumstances, and cultural forces associated with opioid use. The commonly used socioeconomic indicators do not totally capture all of those forces.

And from the second link, this one paragraph does a remarkable job of capturing the article:

As America grows steadily more diverse, the oldest generation is markedly whiter than the youngest: 80 percent of Americans over 65 are non-Hispanic whites, versus just 57 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds. No wonder they remember—and pine for—a different America than the one that exists today. In a recent Public Religion Research Institute survey, respondents over 65 believed America’s “culture and way of life” had changed for the worse since the 1950s, by a 14-point margin. By the same margin, those between 18 and 29 said America had changed for the better. (Race is inextricable from the generational divide: The poll found whites were far more likely than nonwhites to pine for the ’50s.)

-------------

What is especially sad is that the younger white Republicans want the older white Republicans to die as quickly as possible so they can save money.

Parts of California are conservative. It's why they are able to elect Republican Governors like Ron and Arnold.
I'm always surprised by Republicans on the USMB. How little they know.

The Republican way is fuk 'em, let 'em die.

The Democratic way is help them and educate them. Educated people live longer and happier lives as will as bringing more to the country. It's not only history, it's common sense.
