I object to the term “rigged” in this headline. It infers something illegal or similar that the casinos are doing. This couldn't be further from the truth. They are ethically and by law all about letting the visitor and/or gambler know exactly what their chances are. What other establishment gives visitors FREE classes on what the various games are?

So, on to the article:

And, why don't I see live poker anywhere on the list? :eusa_whistle:

Well, if you want to read this BS, go to the link at the byline.

The better comparison is with state lotteries. They pay out 50% and keep 50%. Worse than any legal betting establishment in the world.

Of course, gamblers will respond to the "rigged" criticism with an unavoidable fact. When you spend an evening entertaining yourself at a casino, if you are not an idiot there is at least a 25% chance that you will go home with NET money in your pocket (after paying for dinner & drinks). If you are a good poker player, it is much better than that. What other form of entertainment offers even this possibility?

Rolling drunks? Snatching purses?

Never would have thought they make so much money off of Baccarat

My wife has kept her little book on slots and horses.

She can hear and play the loss leaders on a floor, whether on the Red River, an Indian reservation (she says to stay away from almost any Native American gaming establishment if possible), or LV or Wendover or Ely.

She has won more on slots than she has lost by a small margin.

She has won far more on horsies than she has lost. She makes the big bet of the year on the Belmont, because the quantificants factor more easily. Cleaned up HUGE on Palace Malice. The distance and the rain made him a great long shot.

The late Art Rooney, owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, made his fortune betting on horses.

He could go to an unfamiliar track, buy the programs available, make bets on horses he had never seen or heard of, and usually make money. He did this consistently until he died. His "System" died with him. Maybe he was betting on the jockeys, who knows?

But it is possible to win in the long run if you choose the right game and know what you are doing. In poker, if you are better than the others you might not win every time you sit down to gamble, but in the long run you will win.

its what the Whales like to play. Even if the house has less of an advantage, the sheer amount of money wagered lets the house clear gobs of profit.
