The money -- in the form of a $1,058,254 National Emergency Grant supplement -- will go to several thousand unemployed people in Alabama, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Mississippi, South Carolina and Virginia.

National Emergency Grants are part of the Labor Secretary's discretionary fund. These grants provide assistance "in response to large, unexpected economic events which cause significant job losses." Usually the grants are used to re-train laid-off workers

A National Emergency Grant in the amount of $2,422,473 was awarded to the state of Maryland on Nov. 30, 2009, to serve about 1,890 people in Alabama, Maryland, Mississippi and South Carolina who were eligible to enroll in the HCTC program.

Wednesday’s supplemental award of $1,058,254 brings the total funding awarded for this project to $3,480,727, and it will bring the total number of people to be served under this grant to about 2,340.

    The above from your link.

Are you fuking people that desperate? That you will now complain about 3.4 MILLION DOLLARS.
Chump change. That won't even keep troops in Afghanistan for a day. And yet will help a few thousand Americans keep health insurance until they find a job. Which btw the program was designed to help those who lost their jobs to outsourcing.

WTF is wrong with you people.

    1) It is not 'chump change' when we are in financial trouble
    2) Personal responsibility is not the responsibility of government
    3) Military and national defense are the responsibility of the federal government, but that is not the issue here

Stop fucking spending on entitlements at every turn... it is fucking ridiculous

I guess he doesn't know that we are broke.

I guess he doesn't know that paying for someone elses HC is expensive and that 3 million can be wiped out by one person with cancer.

Oh and BTW there is no charity in the Constitution. Not a mention. There also isn't anything in the Constitution about one group of taxpayers being forced into paying for things for another group of taxpayers. If they even are paying taxes.

I can see all those unintended consequences getting ready to rock and roll.
