There are multiple stories today about FOX not getting in line and doing as they were told. They are apoplectic.

CNN is trying to be the leading journalistic report kings and queens on the Russia Ukraine war now. I guess it's trying to redeem itself somehow by putting it's journalist in extreme danger for it's ratings.

I'm surprised the pressure on Fox didn't make it cave again, just like it did on election eve. Wonder if it learned it's lesson after following the rhino's into the fire ?? Probably not.

Did Pelosi Prevent National Guard from Responding to Capitol Attack?

The Speaker of the House does not have control of the National Guard.

Pelosi did not prevent the National Guard from responding to the attack on the Capitol. Pelosi does not have direct control of the National Guard.


Jane L. Campbell, president and CEO of the U.S. Capitol Historical Society, told CNN: “The Speaker of the House does not oversee security of the U.S. Capitol, nor does this official oversee the Capitol Police Board.”

There are still some questions as to why Capitol Police appeared ill-prepared for the attack and why the National Guard’s response was delayed. We looked more into those questions here. Generally speaking, however, the National Guard in Washington, D.C., reports to the president of the United States. Neither the speaker of the House (Pelosi), nor the minority leader of the Senate (Mitch McConnell), has control of the National Guard.

The D.C. National Guard writes on its websites (emphasis ours):

Today’s D.C. National Guard remains strong with more than 2,700 Soldiers and Airmen available to execute its missions. D.C. National Guard Soldiers and Airmen resides within the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, and are proud to be from the communities in which we protect and serve.
The D.C National Guard was formed in 1802 by President Thomas Jefferson to defend the newly created District of Columbia. As such, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard is subordinate solely to the President of the United States. This authority to activate the D.C. National Guard has been delegated, by the President, to the Secretary of Defense and further delegated to the Secretary of the Army. The D.C. National Guard is the only National Guard unit, out of all of the 54 states and territories, which reports only to the President.
The D.C. National Guard provides mission-ready personnel and units for active duty in the armed services in the time of war or national emergency. The D.C. National Guard also retains the mission as protector of the District of Columbia.

The Capitol Police Board, which oversees the Capitol Police, did request assistance from the National Guard after the riot broke loose. While a member of this board, the House sergeant-at-arms, does report to Pelosi, there’s no indication that Pelosi prevented this official from calling the National Guard. Furthermore, another member of the board, the Senate sergeant-at-arms, reports to the leading Republican member of the Senate, Mitch McConnell. There’s no evidence that McConnell prevented this official from calling for support either.

Drew Hammill, a spokesperson for Pelosi, said in a statement:

“The Speaker believes security officials should make security decisions. The Speaker immediately signaled her support for the deployment of the National Guard when she was presented with that recommendation on the afternoon of January 6th. Public testimony confirms the fact that the Speaker was not made aware of any request for such a deployment prior to then.”

It should also be noted that Steven A. Sund, then-U.S. Capitol Police chief, Paul D. Irving, then-House sergeant-at-arms, and Michael C. Stenger, then-Senate sergeant-at-arms, have all testified about the events of Jan. 6, and none of them insinuated that they were prevented from calling the National Guard by congressional leadership.

Yep, just think about this for a second - As soon as any vandalism to the property started, the meeting of the official's inside should have been told by the police that the meeting must be ended immediately due to riot concern's, and this being due to property destruction taking place on the grounds, and then the police outside should have been equipped with tear gas and crowd dispersement weapon's that could have driven the rowdy side of the protest back, but it's highly strange how the process or meeting just continued in a disorderly fashion while a crowd outside was becoming a disorderly crowd that began destroying government property, and ultimately gained entry into the building in somewhat of a disorderly fashion...

Property destruction and vandalism in which was being viewed or witnessed directly by the police outside, who then allowed for it to get way out of hand (ignoring it's duties to protect the government officials inside by letting it get way to far out of hand), were seemingly complicit or careless in their duties maybe ?? Why ??....

They then actually gave in and allowed entrance into the building where a young woman gets shot because of it all ??

The crowd should have never been allowed to enter the building while an important gathering of government officials were in session to certify an election, especially an election that was being protested by the crowd outside.

GRISALES: Yes, she rejected these two GOP picks. That's Representative Jim Banks of Indiana as the panel's top Republican and Jim Jordan of Ohio as a member because of their past statements and actions. We should note both voted against the certification of President Biden's election on January 6. And Pelosi said this is an unprecedented investigation that calls for an unprecedented decision. And Democrats lauded the move. For example, the committee's chairman, Bennie Thompson, said Pelosi had met GOP leaders more than halfway. But as you heard there, McCarthy was pretty upset talking to reporters after he learned the news from Pelosi. Let's take another listen.

So overall, these choices did not appear to be in danger. For example, one of those picks, Rodney Davis of Illinois, is a top Republican who already oversees Capitol Police. And while this language to consult the speaker is the same wording that was used for the Republican-led select committee created to investigate the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, it's another reminder of the extreme partisan times we're living in.

CHANG: Yeah. So what does all this mean for the investigation and for next steps for this panel?

GRISALES: Well, this creates a new level of uncertainty for the committee. But Pelosi can point out it's bipartisan because she appointed one Republican - that's Congresswoman Liz Cheney - to the committee. And Cheney, for her part, said today that at every opportunity, McCarthy has tried to block the American people from the truth of what happened, and she completely defended Pelosi's decision.

That said, many of the five Republican members McCarthy picked had already done prep work for the committee. For example, one of those appointees, freshman Representative Troy Nehls of Texas - he's a former chair from a Houston suburb - said he had spent, quote, "countless hours prepping," even showed reporters a binder he was using to study. But he and others instead attacked Democrats and said this was partisan. And McCarthy vowed that they will do their own investigation. So this will add to that - this heightened partisan pressures surrounding the probe. Davis, the Illinois Republican, touched on this. Let's take a listen.

Both offer detailed looks into the security failures by USPC on J6. Look into the table of contents as the are many smoking guns. Also, I think it was May 2021 when the House tripped all over itself with 1.98 billion in security fixes.

Or When did she learn of negative intel that was given to her on Jan 2 and then refuse to take the proper protective posture? OR when did she last talk with anyone from Perkins-Coie or The DNC who had a direct line to the FBI? Or how the FBI was inciting the crowd? How many FBI operatives were there doing this.. Ray Epps is a big question, Was he working directly for the FBI or CIA? who authorized his employment? Why hasn't he been charged with inciting a riot with so much video evidence of him doing so?
