It's Free Alright

Don't know about grandfathering. I left Humana for BC/BS-TN. I was so pissed off with harassment from Humana that I switched to BC/BS about two hours before the last open enrollment period closed.
Harassment? I am sorry, what did they do?

Several insurers are pulling out of the marketplace coverage option - Humana, United Healthcare, to name a couple. In this week's local paper there was a write-up about the BC/BS-TN losses alone - hundreds of millions in TN alone on the marketplace coverage. Not to worry ...http://www.bizjournals.com/louisvil...d-humana-leave-the-individual-commercial.html seems there has been a bailout plan afoot ... to be funded by taxpayers.

Critics call Obama funding plan for health insurer losses a 'bailout'
That's disconcerting, if true. I have Humana Coverage and I haven't heard anything about this. The idea behind Obama's brainchild was problematic, to begin with. It didn't actually address the multitude of problems in the health care system. The Affordable health care plan was a misnomer.

Here's one report for Humana losses/2015. I've seen several different sites with some of the insurers which are pulling out of ACA marketplace for losses.

And yet their stock price is over 50 points higher than it was before passage of the PPACA. Does not compute.

They were incessantly calling me to set appointments for nurses to check me out and give my doctor their report, I kept saying "no." Then one night someone called me and got all high and mighty and "in my face" with a nasty notification that she WOULD be coming to my house - I slammed the phone in her face and called BC/BS. My poor cousin had these rascals show up on his doorstep one day, unannounced, and went all through every room in his house, checked his medications, went through all his kitchen cabinets, refrigerator, bathroom, bedrooms, dressers, closets ... everything. I went absolutely ballistic when he told me that. If his late wife had been alive, I'm telling you, she would have given them the worst reaming out they ever had and would have told them to hit the road - NOW. I'm not going to let somebody come in my house and do that to me.

One thing they won't tell you when they call is that they are required by ACA to make the call ... BUT you are under no obligation whatsoever to let them do it. I got that straight from a BC/BS doctor who came to see one of my clients. It's a slick little trick.

It does compute. They are having losses on ACA but doing well on regular types of coverage. These companies invest their money in order to have extra funding to cover their losses from claims and other costs of running their business - such as water, electric, rental/mortgage on office space/buildings, salaries, taxes, .....

I am sorry to hear that. I am relatively healthy, I have noticed that Humana is rather unresponsive, and I magically had my coverage "dropped" in November for some bureaucratic screw-up on their part. So far, that's my only beef with them.

^Does BC/BS also require home nursing visits or is this unique to Humana?

It's not exclusive to Humana. BC/BS called me, I said "no," and that was the end of it. Haven't heard a word from them since.

Then it seems as if the Humana folks were outright lying. AFAIK, there's nothing in the PPACA that requires home visits if the patient doesn't want them. Good thing you got rid of them!

That's a pretty big "only." You should have dropped them...on their heads.

BILLIONS a year flushed down a toilet. If the costs go any higher Americans will not be able to afford to flush their toilet.
Not to worry, we almost have enough illegals in the country now that we can put one in each bathroom to wipe and flush for us.
You know, the jobs Americans wont do.

Most Americans learn to wipe themselves before age three.
I wonder about liberals.
they do tend to have a certain,,, "aroma?" about them

You implied it was the norm for all Americans. What's your sample size?

Another content-filled post, well within the forum rules.

I was referring to your editorial comment, but if you're incapable of explaining why you feel it "might have violated the separation of powers," that's okay.

It wasn't an editorial comment, it is in the article I provided. If you are incapable of reading, I can explain precisely the issue.
