Israel's contributions to peace

FACT: Land captured in wars belongs to the victors. Always has been a fact. How many times has European countries changed borders due to wars? And if this were not a fact, there would be no Muslim countries at all. Shall we join together to pray the Arab countries again unite to annihilate Israel off the face of the earth?

HUH??? You are the guy who told me tha land I call Israel & you call Palestine is one & the same. Therefore whatever borders Palestine has, Israel has.

It is. It is all inside Palestine's borders.

Palestine and the occupation are on the same land.

Your "facts" are not true. It is no longer legal to acquire land in war.

Not according to International Law.

The Israeli-occupied territories are the territories which have been designated as occupied territory by the United Nations and other international organizations, governments and others to refer to the territory seized by Israel during the Six-Day War of 1967 from Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. They consist of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and much of the Golan Heights and, until 1982, the Sinai Peninsula. The West Bank and Gaza Strip are also referred to as the Palestinian territories or Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Palestinian Authority, the EU, the International Court of Justice, the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council consider East Jerusalem to be part of the West Bank, a position disputed by Israel.

Israeli governments have preferred the term "disputed territories" in the case of the West Bank. The Israeli High Court of Justice has ruled that Israel holds the West Bank under "belligerent occupation". The International Court of Justice, the UN General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council regards Israel as the "Occupying Power".

The first use of the term 'territories occupied' was in United Nations Security Council Resolution 242 following the Six Day War in 1967, which called for "the establishment of a just and lasting peace in the Middle East" to be achieved by "the application of both the following principles: ... Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied in the recent conflict ... Termination of all claims or states of belligerency" and respect for the right of every state in the area to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries.

Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem in 1980 (see Jerusalem Law) and the Golan Heights in 1981 (see Golan Heights Law) has not been recognised by any other country. United Nations Security Council Resolution 478 declared the annexation of Jerusalem "null and void" and required that it be rescinded. United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 also declared the annexation of the Golan "null and void". Following withdrawal by Israel from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982, as part of the 1979 Israel–Egypt Peace Treaty, the Sinai ceased to be considered occupied territory. Israel unilaterally disengaged from Gaza in September 2005, and declared itself no longer to be in occupation of the Strip. However, as it retains control of Gaza's airspace and coastline, it continues to be designated as an occupying power in the Gaza Strip by the United Nations Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly and some countries and various human rights organizations.

Peace activists arrested by IOF in the not-occupied oPt

The West Bank is not under military occupation, got it? The military force which arrested five peace activists at a Friday demonstration at Nabi Saleh had clearly failed to get the message. As have the soldiers who are holding them in detention. Haaretz struggles to understand this paradox (3) with reports of the arrests from PIC and AFP.

More Israeli government "contributions to peace":

Israel refuses permits for Palestinian musicians, concert cancelled

In the midst of the tight retrictions on Palestinian life, Al Kamandjati was founded 10 years ago to teach and sponsor the playing of classical music from East and West. Supported by the US and French consulates, it got together the Orchestra Ramallah to give a concert in Jerusalem last month. Half the members are Palestinians. Israel refused to give travel permits to all of them. The concert was cancelled.

So much for Sears!:

She who pays millions to entrench Islamophobia and support for Israel

Nina Rosenwald, an heir to the Sears Roebuck fortune, has funnelled millions of dollars into groups that promote what neo-cons regard as Israel’s interests – and more millions into groups which spread the belief that American Jews and the USA itself are under threat from Muslims. Max Blumenthal reports.

Is this what you are referring to?

Palestinians block show by Israeli-Arab singer

Israeli-Arab singer Sharif poses for a picture at a TV studio in Haifa.

JERUSALEM (AP) -- A popular Israeli-Arab singer had to cancel a show on New Year's Eve in the West Bank because of threats from Palestinian activists opposed to coexistence with Israel, the performer and police said.

It was the latest in a string of cancellations after threats and other pressure tactics by Palestinians groups promoting a boycott of virtually anything connected with Israel. The boycott movement says its tactics are a nonviolent way to protest Israeli policies. Israeli officials denounce the efforts as "delegitimization" of Israel's right to exist.

Sharif, who uses only one name, said he was expecting to perform before thousands of Palestinian fans at a New Year's Eve concert in Ramallah, the west Bank administrative capital, but he was told the day before that his concert was being canceled because of a threat to his life.

"I'm an artist and I want to sing before all audiences," said Sharif, a member of Israel's Arab Druse minority who sees himself as a bridge between the two sides. "I'm a man of peace, not politics. I just want to bring my music to my fans."

Palestinian activists campaigned against his concert because he has performed before Israeli soldiers.

Here is a prime example of Palestinian mentality.

So what's "non-violent" about shutting down a show with threats? You're right, MJ ... with that "mentality" those hapless "Palestinians" are doomed to forever wander aimlessly in the desert. Pathetic yet soooo typical.
