The genetic testing done has shown that the European Jews have the same genome as the Jews who never left Palestine, apart from the converts of course. The DNA was extracted from Jewish skeletons buried in Jewish cemeteries as long as 4,500 years ago. So where is the problem as you see it, the mitochondrial DNA is an 87% match, and some were matched to a distinctive tribe of Judeans called the Cohens. These were orthodox Jews that did not breed outside of their religion, so they are a good indicator of the fact that Ashkenazi Jews are closer to Sephardic Jews than Palestinian muslims are to any Jews.
