Is the following going in the right direction or is it just a way for rich people to be tested?

The FDA just approved the first "at home" COVID test.
So widespread testing isn't too far away.
I don't know how long it takes for the at home test results.

Why would anyone want to get tested for this, unless they were suffering symptoms? Is hypochondria the new normal?

Most cities and towns want to test in order to know who has COVID-19 and where so they can send medical resources there. It's called flattening the curve as part of mitigation.

This testing sounds like testing for the rich libs, so they know how much their town has it, if at all. Thus, they continue to keep visitors out and know they are safe. If a few or several families have it, then it will be interesting to see what the townspeople do because of privacy health information under HIPAA. We should know the results in 72 hours which is much faster than the rest of the population being tested.

In contrast, we have Nielsen families, towns, and cities in California where they represent more of the population of the US. The researchers could've picked a small Nielsen town to test everyone if that was their intent.

California does some weird things and it leads to breakthroughs, but is the following going in the right direction or is it just a way for rich people to be tested?

This is a rich libs' town.

Your link showed the State is targeting different communities with different socio-econ features to try and establish some statistically valid % of people with antibodies. We should be doing this in all states. Why were aren't probably depends on whether you support Trump or not.

So you think that if there is practically no trace of COVID-19 there, then the residents will donate their plasma? I think that's how the researchers get the antibodies.
