Is Maduro looting Venezuela’s gold?

Venezuela crisis: Eight tons of gold removed from central bank as Maduro government struggles to raise funds

He has ruined their currency.
He is starving them.
He is blocking their foreign aid.
He is “arresting” opposition leaders.
He can probably sense that he only has a short time remaining in power.
There will not be a peaceful transition of power.
After seeing what happened in Libya, I'd say he's hiding it from us.

He tried to fly it out.
He was thwarted.
I'm sure he's trying to ship it out another way.

If the US hadn't interfered with Venezuela 17 years ago they could easily be the wealthiest country in South America. ( similar to how Libya was 10 years ago in Africa)
From 2002...

Venezuela coup linked to Bush team
The failed coup in Venezuela was closely tied to senior officials in the US government, The Observer has established. They have long histories in the 'dirty wars' of the 1980s, and links to death squads working in Central America at that time.

Washington's involvement in the turbulent events that briefly removed left-wing leader Hugo Chavez from power last weekend resurrects fears about US ambitions in the hemisphere.

It also also deepens doubts about policy in the region being made by appointees to the Bush administration, all of whom owe their careers to serving in the dirty wars under President Reagan.

One of them, Elliot Abrams, who gave a nod to the attempted Venezuelan coup, has a conviction for misleading Congress over the infamous Iran-Contra affair.
