Granny is really pissed off tonight. I don't know if this is in the right thread but if it isn't I'm sure someone will move it for me. I'm wondering if I'm the only person in the country who is getting this crap or are there others also being plagued.
Picked up my mail this afternoon and there was a letter from BC/BS of TN with "Important Plan Information" on the envelope. I figured it was an advance notice of a premium increase or something else I didn't want to know about. It was. The letter itself was pretty nice but the intent was to advise me of this in-depth health assessment purportedly to find any gaps in my medical care.
Somebody will be calling me to set up an appointment for a frigging doctor to come into my home to review my medical history and give me a physical examination - of course, I can have a family member in my home with me if I so choose. WTF?!?!?! What kind of exam is this? My blood pressure went straight through the roof ... good thing I got to the part about the exam being voluntary or my blood, brains and everything else would have been all over the ceiling.
This is what made me drop Humana coverage. The Humana people harassed the living hell out of me week after week demanding that I have this physical and I told them week after week not to call me anymore and take my number off their call list. Finally some woman called and got right up in my face ... she was determined I was going to have this exam. I let off a string of F-Bombs and slammed the phone down on her. Called BC/BS of TN and got a plan with better coverage ... and a $35/month cut in premiums.
Apparently some insurance companies are partnering with this Censeo Health group to have them perform these exams. From what I could find out in internet searches, this Censeo place is not a BBB member; one site said it was a scam; another site was talking about this crap being a part of Obamacare; another site said it was a part of the "get rid of the old folks" plan.
I'm not letting anybody come into my house for this reason unless they show up on my doorstep with a court order. My doctor is excellent; she's plenty competent; she has my medical history; and I see her twice a year. I just saw her about a week ago for that matter.
Is anybody else out there getting this kind of crap from their insurance carriers? Anybody have any thoughts about this situation?
