The US has been guilty of some bad crap in Iran and that is why they were able to come to power. One of the major problems the US has in Iran is that when the Iranian leaders start talking about how bad the US treats them they are right.

The context of what he is saying is propaganda. In the US the right relies on Fox News to push their propaganda because politicians would be too ashamed to say a lot of that crap themselves. That is not the case with Iran. The point of the analogy is that it is propaganda aimed at the population to get them support.
