President Trump responded somewhat cautiously to Mr. Kim’s overture early Tuesday, but later in the day the “nuclear button” comment drew a more robust response.

In a Twitter message posted Tuesday night, Mr. Trump, referring to Mr. Kim, said: “Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”

I think an Iranian change of government would be more quickly recovered from than a North Korean one. At least Iran has wealth from oil, and a sizable expat community that keeps the people in country informed about what is going on.

North Korea is still on total lockdown, and even the South Koreans a scared shitless of having to fix whats left after the Kims are out of power. Plus China may decide to swoop down and take over instead.

It would make German Reunification look like merging two small businesses.

The collapse of either seems....unlikely. The Revolutionary Guard is deeply entrenched in the Iranian economy, controlling as much as 25% by some estimates. There are already pro-government counter protests on the streets. And the main enforcement arm of Iranian government has always been government allied vigilantes beating dissidents or protestors....with the police looking the other way.

N. Korea is worried about war from the outside. Not collapse from the inside.
