Yeah, a real conservative A-lister.

10) "It's not about how to get back to fiscal discipline or
how you relate to the U.N. It's how you relate to
Americans who tell you to go to hell politically."
9) “The green economy is coming.”
8) "[The Tea Party] will die out."
7) “If I make [McCain’s] day better by being someone
he can talk to, confide in, have a good laugh with, I am
honored.”
6) “Glenn Beck is not aligned with any party as far as
I can tell. He's aligned with cynicism.”
5) “Raising money based on hate, you hit a wall pretty
quickly.” (Graham explaining why it would be difficult for a
conservative opponent to challenge him).
4) “"We're gonna tell the bigots to shut up" (Graham
dismissing people who opposed amnesty).
3) " We're not going to be the party of angry white
guys." (Graham dismissing conservative critics at a town hall).
2) “They’re a political fringe group.” (Graham dismissing
conservative critics at a town hall)
1) “We’ve become a great nation because at the end
of the day when our backs were against the wall, we
held hands.”
Teamed with John Kerry to
revive Cap-And-Trade, just
when its defeat (and the G.O.P.'s
victory) seemed eminent. For a
concise run-down, see the following
editorial from Investor's Business Daily:
"Graham Joins Kerry On Cap-And-Trade"--an
editorial that aptly refers to Graham as
a "G.O.P. hood ornament" for
Democrat legislators.
Voted AGAINST greater
pork-barrel disclosure (ACU-14).
As the ACU explains, the amendment
would have increased “the number of
pork barrel ‘earmarks’ that would have
to be disclosed by the Senators
proposing them.”
Voted AGAINST tort reform
aimed at reducing frivolous
malpractice lawsuits. One of
only two G.O.P. senators to oppose
the legislation (ACU-11) . The reform
would have capped non-economic
damages at 250 thousand dollars and
would have set standards for expert
testimony (Ensign).
Voted FOR TARP (ACU-16).
Voted AGAINST allowing
the senate to vote on a tort-
reform bill to cap damages
in malpractice lawsuits (ACU-
14).
Voted AGAINST a 2009
amendment that would cap
attorney fees in medical
malpractice suits (ACU-18).
Voted FOR allowing illegal
aliens to claim social
security credit for work done
prior to receiving a social-security
number (ACU-14).
Voted FOR a 2006 amnesty
bill for illegal aliens. As the
ACU explains, this precursor to the
amnesty bill of 2007 was a bill
"overhauling U.S. immigration laws and
offering a path to citizenship for most
illegal immigrants in the country." This
bill was spun as a "guest worker
program" (ACU-14).
Voted AGAINST a border
fence that, according to the ACU,
would have provided for "the
construction of 370 miles of double-
layered fencing and at least 461 miles
of vehicle barriers along the U.S.-
Mexico border" (ACU-14).
Voted FOR the amnesty bill
of 2007 by means of his cloture vote
(ACU-15). Here's a reminder as to why, in
spring of '07, conservatives flooded
the senate with phone calls, practically
shutting the lines down:
