Getting back to the interest of this thread, I have always believed it is not permitted to change anything in another's post. I have, however, messaged someone the correct spelling of a word if they wanted to change their post to avoid embarrassment because that is what I would want them to do for me.

And, fwiw, never end a sentence with a preposition. Although I have slapped myself for doing it myself.

That's a myth. Comes from trying to foist Latin syntax onto English.
There's no reason this fake language rule up with which to put.
