In CA No More using your Fireplace!!

...and the alternative to running leaded gasoline would be unavailable to those folks, or be at such a high cost as to make it unavailable.

if they do in fact pass this, the government had better pay to have all those fireplaces removed or renovated or whatever it takes, because it is not the fault of the homeowner that this law was passed. Or it could be decided that they were in fact at fault because they did elect these people into office...

And to also reiterate other's point of energy costs especially in CA are extremely expensive and a fireplace is a cost saving alternative.

I grew up in the Central Valley of CA. I also worked for an organization that developed EIRs (Environmental Impact Reports) and became more familiar with what was in the air than I ever wanted to know.

While I would love to have my neighbor banned from burning things (burns trash and toxic materials) in his fireplace, I don't think this ban will change much of what is in the air. The Central Valley's structure and weather patterns are such that it will always be a basin that captures and hangs onto particulates.

The farming, which is the lifeblood, affects the air more than any other industry and they aren't going to ban farms. Crop dusting, burning the fields, stirring up dust........all of this gets trapped.

We have a fireplace.......it's a propane gas fireplace. I have the heat and the ambience without the pollution and the work.

Another attempt to create the liberal short-sghted fantasy. Smoke is bad--"killing" trees is bad. Just who are the real moralists here anyway and exactly why are they forcing their beliefs on the rest of us?

Socialists falsely using causes that they know will grip at our heart strings and connect to our sense of fear to gain control over our lives and this country. Little known fact to me was that George Sorros who is of Greek nationality is funding "Progressive Insurance", and then funneling all the profits to other Marxist organisations that want a "new world order" under the the UN. No more US soveriegnty.

I believe ya----not much doubt that this is a big part of the US domestic war. Too many lazy folks who like to "stick it to the man" have no idea what the hell they are getting us into. I'm glad spirituality allows me to float above this when it gets too silly.

Does anyone even ask what the hell Soros is doing meddling in our country's affairs???

however the ACLU supports him and speaks for him also...Communism is alive and well in Soros and the ACLU world...not to mention the Bliderberg organization...it is a conspiracy in the utmost infinity...even though I will be attacked by the mere mention of such...but what do I know I only enforced conspiracy laws in my past life! :p:

Oooops!! Guess I wasn't clear in that post re the transfer of money. That $500K didn't belong to me but to the business!! I was the controller and it was my decision, but not my money.

Gosh............I'm the wife of a SGM who hasn't retired yet, so you must know what our income is.

And, what makes me lucky? Having a fireplace? It's something we got at Home Depot and it sits in the corner of the livingroom. I'm happy that I don't have to cut, chop, stack and cart wood in.........upon reflection, I guess I can agree that I'm pretty lucky to have a guy that cares enough about me to make sure I have the ambiance without the yukiness that goes along with it.

Wow. What a concept. People deciding what they want their own laws to be by elected representatives irregardless of the opinion of people who don't live in the area.

So your car is not considered part of your personal life - only your home? Therefore, if the government passed a law requiring all cars to be painted hunter orange to aid in visibility - you'd be OK with that?

Dillo - you live in Austin. THis is a California law, isn't it? How is this forcing a belief on you?

My belief is that I should be allowed to dump my trash in the Mississippi river.

Wow. Another rapturist/paranoid/tax protesting/whatchamacallit.

They're coming for you! Better put that aluminum foil on your head and get rid of your social security number!

So if you think its bad when a government - no matter how democratic - controlls too much land, then you believe the CSA should have won the War of Northern Aggression, right?

Nice try, but not good enough. What is or is not part of my "personal life" is debatable, but to make a reasonable analogy, as I am sure you learned in Junior High, you must compare apples to apples. Cars and homes are very different, at least in most people's worlds.
