I'm Voting for Bernie, SRSLY

She's living in her self-imposed, Randian bubble :tinfoil: 'twas ever thus.

so she'll vote for the socialist because she thinks drumpf can beat him more easily.

I didn't read it that way. She'll vote for the socialist because the more votes he gets, the less viable she looks.

If we go strictly by the polls, the margin between Hilllary and Trump is a statistical dead heat at this point--a bit less so favoring Hillary in the battleground states though those margins have narrowed significantly.

The polls still show Sanders with a substantial lead over Trump nationally. Will that affect the Democratic convention and those super delegates? Hard to say.
IOW, will the Democrats rather lose with Hillary or win with Bernie.

I think they would rather lose than run with Bernie.

You may be right, but the party is overwhelmingly controlled by ideological fanatics. So when the chips are down and they know that the only way they can retain the White House and/or regain control of the House and Senate, is to get behind Bernie. . .I think we have to leave at least a little wiggle room there.

As more than a few USMB members should understand, I am not a leftwing kinda gal. If I were to pick a label, it would be Liberatarian...

BUT....

As an artifact of my clueless youth (consistent with the concept that a Conservative is a Liberal who now has a job and pays taxes), I am still a registered Democrat. California being a de facto One Party State, it has never been worthwhile to change my registration. My inertia has finally paid off!

As a protest vote to show my scorn for All Things Clinton, I'm voting for Bernie in the Primary.

Yes, I'm feelin' the Bern.

:)

Might make you feel good in the short term, but in the end it's not gonna make your state go red in November.

I harbor null set illusions that California will go for Trump. My vote for BERNIE is a protest vote against All Things Clinton.

Of course I have had a question in the back of my mind. Could Ron Paul have beaten Obama if the Repubs got behind him

I don't think so. Even if he could have convinced his critics that he wasn't hopelessly unrealistic in some areas, he just wasn't as engaging on TV or in public appearances as Obama was. Like Bob Dole and in many respects Mitt Romney, he just wasn't very likable.

you should really stick to choosing the person you will vote for in the fall.

the idea of you being a democrat is laughable.

and your idea that a "conservative" is a liberal who got a job and pays taxes is imbecilic. I'm pretty sure I pay a lot more in taxes than you do. I'm also pretty sure that the raging bigotry among rightwingnuts has absolutely nothing to do with their status as wage earners.

For some reason I find myself recalling your Carter comparisons to President Obama during the last presidential election.

Wonder why...:eusa_think:

No clue. I'm not making any connection as to what one thing has to do with the other.

Your math doesn't work, but you still managed to arrive at the only, possible correct answer

I didn't perform any mathematics in my post, bub. But thanks for playing.

The word mathematics, as used in my comment was merely a figure of speech pal. And, your welcome.

So tell me. Why did the supers all switch from Hilllary to Obama in the closing months of the 2008 campaign?

Because supers, being good party members, want to score points with the party by being on the record as having supported the winner. In 2008, that was Obama. In 2016, that's Clinton.

There is zero doubt that Clinton is the winner here. She's way ahead in pledged delegates, most of the remaining delegates are in CA and NJ, and Clinton holds double-digit leads in both states.

And what makes you think they wouldn't do so again if they perceived that Sanders was more universally appealing than Hillary is?

But they don't perceive that. They perceive the opposite, that Sanders would be a big loser in the general. The ugly behavior of Sanders followers recently hasn't helped. "YOU IN THE PARTY ARE ALL CORRUPT LIARS ... so now please switch to our side" is not going to be a successful appeal.

As for Sanders, he reacts badly under stress, lacks in people skills, and has a poor grasp of any issues outside of his stump speeches. His accomplishment record is weak, his socialist positions would get ripped to pieces. In the general, he'd do ... better than McGovern, but not by much. And the supers know this.

Remember, the supers are political professionals. They're just going to laugh at conservative concern trolling.

You are probably right except that I don't think they give a lot of attention to 'conservative concern trolling' as trolls on message boards do.

The national polls mostly show Sanders doing much better against Trump--in fact trouncing Trump--as opposed to the much narrower margin between Clinton and Trump. But no doubt neither of us think that would necessarily hold up. Given how wrong most of the polls have been in the state elections so far, I think those being polled are not being entirely honest shall we say? Or else the polls are being deliberately skewed to give certain impressions and I think both sides might be capable of that.

But you are right about California and in this most weirdest of election seasons, California could actually make a difference this time. Usually it is all over before the west coast polls close.

Like you, I think Clinton will be the nominee unless she completely implodes between now and the convention. But again, this is the strangest election I have ever witnessed in my lifetime.

I Diiiddddddddd Itttttttttt!!!!

I just voted for BERNIE!

And the nominee is Hillary Clinton. However, Bernie has been and inspiration, and will have a voice in the Democratic Platform. Excellent.

It is impossible for a Libertarian to vote for a Socialist. They are mutually exclusive.

Not in my case, bub. My vote for BERNIE was a protest vote AGAINST hiLIARy. Living in CA, my votes are totally disenfranchised by massive fraud and corruption, so all that is left to me is to express my disapproval.

He's not going to win. But I hope he causes enough of his supporters to be pissed off enough not to support hiLIARy.

If you were really a Libertarian, you would have voted for Gary Johnson as a vote against Clinton.

A socialist is diametrically opposite a libertarian.

I don't agree at all. First off, McConnell's made it clear that the establishment's support of Donald is simply the scotus. He knows the gop is not winning a natl election again for a long time. He can lock up the scotus for 20-30 years with a win here. So, if Roe or Citzen's United rocks your boat, you have to go dem if your vote counts. McConnell supports an out and out racist, with whom he differs on trade, taxes and immigration on just the scouts. To the Trumpeters who think Donald can bend the elite, I laugh at you.

If that distinction is not enough to sway a prochoice vote (and both Hillary and Sanders are 100% prochoice) Sherrod Brown makes a compelling argument that Hillary will be pretty close to Bernie in not supporting the asia trade bill, will uphold Dodd Frank, will continue using the labor relations board to help raise wages even in new laws can't be passed, helping college be affordable, and making taxes more progressive. So, if anyone supports Bernie on those issues, they need to get on board because a goper potus will kill that.

I don't support any of that crap. And a lot of Bernie's real supporters are ignorant millennials and old hippies who can't stand hiLIARy. Politics is personal; and if they are pissed off enough at the rigged fake Dem primaries, quite a few will just abstain.
