Illinois Becomes Latest US State To Ban Assault Weapons

You still are avoiding answering my question. There is no such thing as infringe when it comes to assault weapons, cannons, grenades, and Bazookas. Stop posting stupid ass responses. Debate intelligently you idiot.

Its semantics. One can easily do as much or more damage with a 9mm, 40cal, .22, etc. Its not about the gun. Its about the immoral rot that has taken over our society. And yes, any banning of any weapon is infringement.

1. They might not, but legislators shouldn't stop making laws for their own state because they're afraid the Supreme Court might overturn it. They might not even take the case.
The lower courts will, and they are bound by the Bruen precedent.
Making laws you know will be overturned as unconstitutional,, aside from violating your oaths of office, is unconscionable.
2. Maybe! Maybe they just want to limit the amount of semi-automatic rifles on their streets.
The Constitution, intentionally, takes some policy decisions off the table.
3. Because mass shootings do a lot more damage to society than just the body count. They shock and terrify *everyone*, threaten even the most peaceful and innocent among us, so that no one is safe.
An argument based on fallacious appeals to emotion is inherently unsound.
4. They do, but....
"....the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms..."
-USSC
What arguemt is there that banning 'assault weapons' does not violate the constitution?

Mass shootings dropped when we had an assault weapons ban before. Get up to speed.
Nonsense. So called assault weapons are rarely used in crime. You lie like all howler monkeys.

So you are some expert on word placement.
So by definition one cannot " infringe " on a specific
right guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment. The right to bear arms.
Or more specifically ... " The right of the people to keep and
bear arms. "
I suppose one could Keep a Machine gun { Tommy gun }
with a special permit { like around $15,ooo + dollars } but then
not have the right to shoot it.

2. Maybe! Maybe they just want to limit the amount of semi-automatic rifles on their streets. They did just have a mass shooting in Highland Park last year, in which the shooter used a semi-automatic rifle with high-capacity magazines, so it's understandable that they would want to do *something*.

4. They do, but so do Tommy Guns, and they have sat comfortably behind the Class 3 license wall for almost a century. The government is allowed to limit rights when they conflict with those of others.

Either way, it will only be of limited help as long as All-Guns-All-The-Time Indiana is just an Uber ride away.

This is stupid.......

Maybe they just want to limit the amount of semi-automatic rifles on their streets.

In a country of over 350 million people we had 12 last year commit acts of mass public shootings......rifles aren't the problem.....the problem is the democrat party destroying local police, and releasing violent gun criminals over and over again no matter how many felonies they collect.....

The government is allowed to limit rights when they conflict with those of others.

Sorry....The Supreme Court already ruled that Bruen doesn't allow this....

None of that stops an SUV from running over a parade.
This is just pritzker appealing to his democrat retarded baboon base.

Nine states as well as D.C. now prohibit the sale or possession of assault weapons. Illinois joins California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.

Just hours after the legislation's passage in both chambers of the Illinois General Assembly, Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the "Protect Illinois Communities Act" into law during a ceremony at the State Capitol in Springfield. Supporters, some of whom were gun violence survivors, erupted with applause and cheers as the governor presented the signed document.

The new law bans assault weapons, including some semiautomatic firearms, along with high-capacity magazines and rapid-firing devices.

According to the Illinois State Rifle Association, the ban affects nearly 2.5 million legal firearm owners in the state.

"Challenge accepted," ISRA executive director Richard A Pearson said in a statement Tuesday, in response to the ban. "The Illinois State Rifle Association will see the State of Illinois in court."

The law will allow gun owners to keep the guns they have now, but will require them to register them with the state.

Soon to be overturned.

Since all weapons can be assault weapons, then all weapons are banned, correct?
When it comes to firearms, all legal firearms in the US are 1 pull of the trigger and one bullet, correct?
Illinois is the land of idiots. Common sense went extinct there a long time ago along with your critical thinking skills.

9 states, and DC, will have their bans overturned, as none of them cvan pass the test laid out in Bruen.
