If Trump wants to keep Americans safe, why doesn't he address gun deaths caused by other Americans?

Excluding suicides, firearms were used to kill 13,286 people in the U.S. in 2015. Approximately 1.4 million people have been killed using firearms in the U.S. between 1968 and 2011. Obviously, only the tiniest fraction of these murders were caused by people who were radicalized Islamists, regardless of whether they were foreign-born, or people who were born as Americans and were radicalized later on.

So, if Trump is really dedicated to keeping Americans safe, why doesn't he pursue stronger gun laws in an effort to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and people with behavioral issues?

Trump did. He told the stupid corrupt Democrat leaders of Chicago to get their shit together or else he would do it for them.

Perhaps because he is more interested in keeping law-abiding citizens safe, than in keeping violent criminals safe. Without exception, whether by ignorance or willful intent, those who support “gun control” are on the side of tyrants and criminals, and against that of law-abiding citizens.

He's going to go after the criminals, not the guns. I know you regressives have an aversion to addressing the real problem, but Trump doesn't.

A lot of gun related violent homicides are related to the illegal drug trade. Why don't we outlaw drugs?

The cops know who the thugs are. He should give them free reign to clear them out. Permanently.

What laws should be put in place that are not already on the books? What should be added to background checks that is not already in them? How will new laws or background checks prevent someone who has no criminal record or history of mental illness which is often the case with mass shooters prevent them from getting a gun?
