Slavery, Jim Crow, and shooting down multiple Civil Rights legislations are all hallmark legacies of the Democrat Party. The only reason the Civil Rights Act was finally passed and supported by Democrats was because of Lyndon Johnson. The man evidently had a voting plan for Blacks.
