Israeli forces manhandle EU diplomats, seize West Bank aid | Reuters

(Reuters) - Israeli soldiers manhandled European diplomats on Friday and seized a truck full of tents and emergency aid they had been trying to deliver to Palestinians whose homes were demolished this week.
A Reuters reporter saw soldiers throw sound grenades at a group of diplomats, aid workers and locals in the occupied West Bank, and yank a French diplomat out of the truck before driving away with its contents.

"They dragged me out of the truck and forced me to the ground with no regard for my diplomatic immunity," French diplomat Marion Castaing said.

"This is how international law is being respected here," she said, covered with dust.

Once again, the IDF use their fully armed bastards to attack civilians, diplomats in this case.

The Israeli army and police declined to comment.

I'll bet.

First they knock down houses in their usual ethnic cleansing activities, them they attack and steal aid being sent to their victims and break international laws regarding diplomatic immunity and the rights of diplomats to travel unhindered.

Of course, the soldiers concerned in this major diplomatic incident will be punished.
Probably lose their rights to chocolate rations for a week.

However, they won't starve because they can eat all the food they stole from the diplomats when they held them up at gunpoint and threw a slightly built, unarmed woman out of a truck and held her at gunpoint.
However, in their defence, they didn't rape her.

This is a comparatively minor incident in view of other IDF offenses, such as the attack on the USS Liberty and the cold-blooded murder of Rachel Corrie. The following is another example of Israel's contemptuous nature.

Israel Charged With Systematic Harassment of U.S. Marines
By Donald Neff
March 1995:

Washington Report on Middle East Affairs | Telling the truth for more than 30 years - Israel Charged With Systematic Harassment of U.S. Marines

It was 12 years ago, on March 14, 1983, that the commandant of the Marine Corps sent a highly unusual letter to the secretary of defense expressing frustration and anger at Israel. General R.H. Barrow charged that Israeli troops were deliberately threatening the lives of Marines serving as peacekeepers in Lebanon. There was, he wrote, a systematic pattern of harassment by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) that was resulting in "life-threatening situations, replete with verbal degradation of the officers, their uniform and country."

Barrow's letter added: "It is inconceivable to me why Americans serving in peacekeeping roles must be harassed, endangered by an ally...It is evident to me, and the opinion of the U.S. commanders afloat and ashore, that the incidents between the Marines and the IDF are timed, orchestrated, and executed for obtuse Israeli political purposes."1

Israel's motives were less obtuse than the diplomatic general pretended. It was widely believed then, and now, that Israeli Defense Minister Ariel Sharon, one of Israel's most Machiavellian politician-generals, was creating the incidents deliberately in an effort to convince Washington that the two forces had to coordinate their actions in order to avoid such tensions. This, of course, would have been taken by the Arabs as proof that the Marines were not really in Lebanon as neutral peacekeepers but as allies of the Israelis, a perception that would have obvious advantages for Israel.2

Barrow's extraordinary letter was indicative of the frustrations and miseries the Marines suffered during their posting to Lebanon starting on Aug. 25, 1982, as a result of Israel's invasion 11 weeks earlier. Initially a U.S. unit of 800 men was sent to Beirut harbor as part of a multinational force to monitor the evacuation of PLO guerrillas from Beirut. The Marines, President Reagan announced, "in no case... would stay longer than 30 days."3 This turned out to be only partly true. They did withdraw on Sept. 10, but a reinforced unit of 1,200 was rushed back 15 days later after the massacres at the Palestinian refugee camps at Sabra and Shatila that accompanied the Israeli seizure of West Beirut. The U.S. forces remained until Feb. 26, 1984.4

During their-year-and-a-half posting in Lebanon, the Marines suffered 268 killed.5 The casualties started within a week of the return of the Marines in September 1982. On the 30th, a U.S.-made cluster bomb left behind by the Israelis exploded, killing Corporal David Reagan and wounding three other Marines.6

This is what happens when a State becomes an out-cast or pariah...It becomes brutal...

Diplomatic immunity does not allow you to deliver materials to people barred by the Government you are a guest of. As to man handling removing someone from a vehicle that is illegally present is allowed. Morons.

Gunny we're not at Parris Island Boot camp. They could have confiscated the contraband...Battering people and recruits joining the Corps is illegal in Democratic Societies...Israel regresses because the world has her behind N. Korea and Iran in likability Polls.

Ya cause of course they did not ask the diplomats to unass the truck. Right? I bet dollars to donuts the asshole diplomats thought if they refused they would win. Biased reports not withstanding.

I noticed that the article doesn't mention if the Diplomats in question were accredited members of a Diplomatic Mission in Israel. Nor did the new article indicate that the Diplomats or the seized truck of tents and emergency aid had received prior approval for entry under the convention.

Diplomatic immunity is not meant to benefit individuals personally; it is meant to ensure that foreign officials can do their jobs. The question here, which the news article does not address, is whether these diplomats were performing duties of there respective missions, whether these duties were accredited with Israel, and whether they had asked permission to proceed. It also doesn't mention if the cargo seized was under diplomatic seal and articles for the official use of the mission; articles for the personal use of a diplomat or members of his family forming part of his household, including articles intended for his establishment. Nor does it say the material had an entry permit and was granted exemption from all customs duties, taxes, and related charges other than charges for storage, cartage and similar services.

Finally, the article doesn't say when the diplomats presented their proper credentials to the Israeli officials. Diplomatic immunity is not card blanche to violate any law, or to ignore any otherwise lawful order.

Any time diplomatic personnel attempt to use their accreditation and standing to deliberately violate the host nation laws, and to stand above the law, the host nation takes a dim view of the mission and may purposely impose limitations and withdraw courtesies, that they would otherwise extend in most cases.

This article has many holes in it. There are questions that people might not ask, if they never had diplomatic immunity.

I would not be too quick to judge. There may be a diplomatic incident here, but it may not necessarily be on the Israeli side that committed it.

And based on some of the diplomatic comments like:

"What the Israelis are doing is not helpful to the negotiations. Under any circumstances, talks or not, they're obligated to respect international law," the unnamed EU diplomat said.

This may very well be a staged event to create an incident to incite trouble.

Most Respectfully,
R

delivering food and medical supplies doesn't violate Israeli law.

destroying Arab housing because they have no building permits but allowing retro-active building permits for Jewish housing, shows how little Israel cares about laws including their OWN.

Don't forget to mention, the tribesmen were farming that land before Israel existed.
However, they have no right to live there because the ethnic cleansing policy says so.

It's interesting to see the more foolish posters defending a gang of armed troops pulling a small woman out of a truck, throwing her to the dirt and holding her at gunpoint.

Personally, I feel that's more than a little out of order.

Despite the nonsensical raving and ranting of these activist-diplomats, the fact still remains the Highest Court of Justice ruled that proper building permits had not being obtained and thus the IDF actions were completely legal.

It's a pity that this anti-zionists activist fools haven't got the courage to carry out their antics where there are real humanitarian problems such as in Syria where 100.000 people have died! Any aid from these activists anti zionists would no doubt be welcome there.... but of course they know that the worst that can happen when they carry out their little games with Israelis is that they might be pushed aside when necessary.

In Syria a much worse fate may happen to them and this would rather spoil their fun and their arrogant loud mouth,pseudo-bravery would quickly collapse.

meanwhile Israel allows settlements that were built on stolen land and built without building permits, to stand untouched.

shows how little Israel cares about the law.

As a note, the Israeli army is trying to remove these people, in a Nazi jewish trains to holiday camps sort of way but they can't get away with mass murder so they simply knock down the houses and school.
Luckily, the IDF were nice enough to let the kids out of the school before they knocked it down.
That one up on what they do with bulldozers to American ladies.

Israeli soldiers stopped the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delivering emergency aid on Tuesday and on Wednesday IRCS staff managed to put up some tents but the army forced them to take the shelters down.

The diplomats were there to see for themselves what the IDF bastards were up to.
Looks like they found out first hand and, as luck has it, reporters were there with cameras.

at least they didn't run her over with a bulldozer like Rachel Corrie!

This was an apparent hot spot, as there is a risk of harm coming to those who traverse those areas. Diplomatic standing or not. The soldiers responded to the situation and if they did anything wrong they will be dealt with accordingly.

"The Israeli army said following Friday's altercation that security forces had tried to prevent tents from being erected in area, in accordance with the High Court decision.

"At the site, Palestinians and the foreign activists violently objected, throwing stones and striking law enforcement officers," a military spokeswoman said.

"Reports that foreign diplomats abused their diplomatic privileges are currently being reviewed, and if required, complaints will be filed with the relevant authorities."

arrest all IDF personnel involved in this

Quite the arrogant l'il Colonialist, aren't you?

Just who do you imagine is going to arrest IDF personnel, and on what putative authority?

Thanks for the chuckle, though : ))

Despite what you say, you are admitting that it's OK for misguided fools like these activist diplomats to hysterically get in the way.
For a start, diplomats are expected to stay within the laws of the country they are working and their misguided practices are a gross breach of all diplomatic conventions! They would be the first to scream loudly if diplomats from another country carried out similar behavior in their own countries.

Their own bravado is unimpressive and most certainly not being sanctioned by their relelvant governments.

I'd like to see what would happen if these same 'activist' diplomats went to KSA and tried to pass out Bibles......or held a public demonstration against the new 'anti-gay' laws in Russia......or protested FGM in northern Nigeria.......
