Ideology poll

What is your political ideology?

  • Total voters
    50
  • Poll closed .
Regardless of ideology, I think the focus should be on the pillars of what has always made the US great. You can be all over the chart but the important stuff is below... but with a twist.

Belief in free press
With an extreme care to filter out 'fake news' .... on both sides of the spectrum. With all the crap floating around, shouldn't there be an independent media court where CNN or FOX claims would be debated and resolved. (I wonder who'd end up in media court more often)

Belief in right to bear arms
In a context where weapons of mass destruction belong to the military only. If you really need an AR-15 with bump stock in your neighborhood you should really call in the army.

Belief in justice for all
When you start tainting the supreme court with religiously (christian) biased members you're dangerously dividing a 'melting pot' country up. Church/State division was meant to promote a unifying secular approach instead of pushing religious lobby agendas that favor the resolution of social issues along the dictates of a christian bible.

Belief in sharing wealth
Isn't time to control pharmaceuticals and offer healthcare for all? US residents are getting ripped off by them.

Fix that and you're back in business. Don't fix it and you have world dominated by the likes of China.

"Libertarian" doesn't have a leaning....The "left-libertarian" is a unicorn, made up by socialists who don't have the stones to own up to it.

I'd probably describe Tyler Cowen as a "left-leaning libertarian". He's certainly not a socialist.

His new book outlines a kind of broad philosophy for political economy that seems like it could easily be described as such. It's fundamental theorem is that the benefits of compounding economic growth over the long-term swamp nearly every other ethical consideration, leading to the conclusion that the two fundamental tenets of any ethical theory of political economy are basically are the promotion of prosperity and individual freedom. But his emphasis on (very) long-term thinking and the emphasis on growth as the solution to most moral dilemmas in politics (limited only by a strong conception of individual rights), and the expanded definition of wealth which he uses, also probably lead to some conclusions that are slightly to the left in contemporary American politics. Since this is now a mini-book review I'll just say I thought the book is intriguing but annoying in that his arguments are abstract enough I imagine they could be claimed in support of a pretty wide range of viewpoints. Still, I think it would only take a couple weeks following his blog to conclude that "left-leaning libertarian" is a pretty good description.

The bolded is all I needed to know that the guy is a closeted socialist....Chomsky tries the same semantic shell games to dupe his adherents....He's a charlatan.

lol.

The guy is director of the Mercatus Center, a George Mason University research center focused on market-oriented approaches to solving political problems. The book approvingly cites Ayn Rand, Ludvig von Mises, and Robert Nozick at various points. He's definitely not a socialist. Honestly, I can't understand why people are so allergic to even the faintest hint that they might expand their horizons. It truly baffles me sometimes.

As of the time I voted on the poll it was leaning 60% moderate + conservative-leaning libertarian. Wonder how many of those folks like the idea of deranged males forcing women to undress in front of them in private hygiene areas marked "women" above the door?

Yeah. I don't think your bathroom issues are represented clearly by any ideology. Trump's probably the best bet for you.

So far the only person to use a bump stock to kill, was the Democrat Operative who shot up kids at a country western event. Next.
Free press like Zika Breznefki, who said " it was the job of the press to control what people think". Pretty Joseph Goebbels dont you think.
Justice for all, except the liberal elites who can steal and murder you, but never seem to get caught because the FBI is in the tank for them....

Back 30 years ago, I would never imagine how far down this country could be brought, but after 8 years of the Fundamental Transformation of America, we are here at the crux of our country.

Mind your own business and keep your hands to yourself and I will do the same. Free to compete and to conduct voluntary exchange without the interference of anybody. Granting power to the state is an act of violence against your fellow man.

Your poll doesn't cover it.

I am appalled that, in our culture, if you take the Constitution and laws of the country seriously, that places you in the position of being a "Right Winger."

Logic dictates that such a philosophy should be considered middle of the road.

To give one example: Anyone wanting our EXISTING IMMIGRATION LAWS TO BE ENFORCED is called a "racist."

Anyone wanting to ensure that voters identify themselves before being allowed to vote...is a bigot.

Anyone wanting to treat biological men as men and biological women as women...is a homophobe.

Anyone denying the existence of "rights" that are made up by Leftist judges...is a Nazi.

One could go on.

So as defined by today's prevailing culture, I am a Right Wing Whacko.
