Early Wednesday, January 10, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided nearly 100 7-Eleven stores. The raids netted twenty-one arrests of people suspected of being in the U.S. illegally.
The 7-Eleven stores were targeted so ICE could “ ‘open employment audits and interview workers.’ “ The stores must prove they had workers fill out work eligibility forms.
During the last year of the Bush/Cheney administration only 503 of these paperwork audits took place. But, that number increased to over 8000 in the first year of the Obama administration.
Conservatives always blame the undocumented workers for the failure of large corporations to obey immigration laws. It seems conservatives believe illegal immigrants hold guns to the heads of corporate leaders forcing them to fire American workers and replace them with “wetbacks”.
What is even more comical is this bit of hypocrisy from the idiot Trump. On December 20 2017, the idiot Trump commuted the prison sentence of Agriprocessors CEO Sholom Rubashkin.
Rubashkin had been convicted of money laundering and financial fraud in 2009 and sentenced to twenty-seven years in prison.
Why is the idiot Trump’s hypocrisy in the commutation of Rubashkin’s twenty-seven year sentence significant? Rubashkin’s conviction stems from one of the largest immigration raids in U.S. history. It occurred in 2008, when 389 undocumented workers were arrested at the Agriprocessors meatpacking plant in Postville, Iowa.
Here again, we can expect conservatives to blame the undocumented workers for the illegal acts of the corporation and the CEO Rubashkin. They will commend the idiot Trump for his forgiveness towards the victimized CEO Rubashkin for all his crimes, after the “wetbacks” forced him (at gunpoint) to replace hard working Americans with lazy illegal immigrants.
