I went through what my husband paid for HI with BCBS for the last 12 years

In the course of the discussion you demonstrated your "bottom line" -----your own pocket---

Isn't that one definition of capitalism?

Not exactly----but your comment could be acceptable to some people---
mostly people who support any form of socialism-----like Jesus of Nazareth
and Pharisees, in general. HOWEVER the characteristic of "voting ones
pocket" is, in a MALIGNANT way ----far more attributable to islamo Nazi scum
like Penelope, I know all about it-----I grew up in an area of the USA that had
been a Nazi enclave in the pre world war II era and---during that era. -----
in my neighborhood-----"welfare" for starving children was called a
ZIONIST PLOT.

Most people who do not like the PPACA do not know anything about it, or have insurance via work. They think its freeloading and well its not, its the opposite. Now everyone pays according to their income.

right----it is socialized medicine----fine with me. HOWEVER the people who complain the MOST will be those who lose their Medicaid (I am a real health care provider----I know)

What kind of ins. do you have? As long as you have ins. you have no worries about fines.

Can you explain what this has to do with the PPACA?

of course-----most COMMENTS regarding the program have nothing to do with
the QUALITY OF MEDICAL CARE-------they relate to the POCKETS of the
middle class

I did not express a concern about "fines"

Would you like to discuss the quality of medical care? That's a big topic, worthy of its own thread.

Not surprising.

Ya know there is such a thing as yellow pages where ya can do the same thing............ya don't need the exchange......

Fabulous. Meanwhile, if obamacare is the answer for everybody, why is your husband still paying premiums to BCBS?

The ACA is not in itself an insurance, its a market place for insurance. Actually I found another insurance for him on the marketplace for this year, much better than BCBS , same price but lower OOP and Deduct and not an HMO.
PS: You have to be signed up on Healthcare.gov, if for instance your situation changes in the year, then you can get a subsidy if needed.

A bit of a side vent, but I am pissed that the government sold my private, non-published phone number. The very day I registeted to look at plans (phone number is a mandatory field), I got 15 sales calls. After 3 months, I had to change my phone number of over 10 years just to get the calls to stop ... at least 6 calls every day after 3 months. Pissed!
I have never received a call from the Marketplace or anyone else concerning ins. I have received emails and mailings from the Marketplace only , not from anyone else.

Like I said, I got so many that I had to change my number. Some were from the marketplace, but most were for free health insurace quotes from a LOT of different brokers and insurance companies.

That would of pissed me off as well, wonder why that happened, did you go there when it was newer, we first went in the Dec 2014.

It was October of 2015.

Yes. Insurance isn't free. BCBS is no exception. To keep from "cringing" should your husband get a dx of cancer and can't pay the premium, you might try what many adults do- put some money into savings for such emergencies.

We have money in savings and he has a disability policy , but that Is no the point. The point is, many people do not, and can't afford a HSA or a savings account for a time like the above. What about them. What about a 40 year old who has say diabetes , through no fault of his own?? Before he could not change jobs or ins carriers for fear of not getting ins he could afford.

Also the point is his ins went up the same with on and not on the ACA.
Yes. I get the point. And I understand that some people don't have savings. I also understand that obamacare hasn't rescued everyone from all hardship.

It has so, if one can't get ins. they need to go to site and get on a silver share plan where they will get a lower deduct and OOP max, or they will get Medicaid. No matter the income or diagnosis they might have, they can get insurance.
Actually you are wrong that everyone can get medical insurance. According to what I found when I made application the poor are not eligible for Obama care. Their response was we were eligible for Medicare which was a lie. My husband would have died of a heart condition or I could die from damages incurred from being covered in toxic chemicals back in 2008 before ever receiving adequate medical care if we depended on the current system solely for our health requirements.

What needs to happen is an independent audit of the current medical system and food supply. Every water system needs to be either cleaned up or provide an affordable means for people to clean their drinking water as it is all polluted. FDA and EPA both need a good shake down. I doubt you will even get half a start on what needs to be done to straighten this whole mess up before a lot more people are seriously affected negatively health-wise.

Just the facts....... If ocare was so great we wouldn't still have so many uninsured.

Who are they? The uninsured?

They are:

(1) The very young, who think they're immortal
(2) Those who have no idea how to go about finding insurance through the exchanges
(3) The "Fuck Obama! I'll show him! I don't need no stinkin' health insurance!" whiners
(4) The people fooled by TalkRadio and (3) into thinking if they do go to the exchanges they'll get cooties

Those who are genuinely poor are eligible for Medicaid.

Anyone whose income is less than 400% of the federal poverty guideline is eligible to apply for a subsidy via the PPACA.

The only way you'd fall into a gap between the two is if you're unfortunate enough to live in a state whose legislators refused the Medicaid expansion.

Whoever told you otherwise (did you apply directly through the insurer or through a broker, by any chance?) is not being honest.

I went through their online websites. This state supposedly has a program where you can go to the University hospitals too for medical treatment which was also bs due to the corrupt politics here and the majority of those who are corrupt are the Democrats. That is fact. When my personal physician referenced me to the university they refused treatment claiming it was a work related injury. The WC carrier refused adequate treatment and sent me to a quack that had already previously had his license pulled for being a nutjob and then again they pulled his license for being a nutjob and a drug addict. Regardless not everyone gets insurance or proper medical care. The SOB's were actually going to let me die and my husband wasn't sure I was going to make it either for several years. He still wonders because I have asthma attacks now that could very easily be killers. He threw out carpets, furniture and anything he could find that would cause an asthma attack. This is how corrupt your whole medical and insurance system is at this point.

A forty year old single male pays over $1,800.00 a month for required medical care insurance (I know this as I know this person personally very well).

I know a guy that is a diabetic on twenty-three different medications. The diabetes shots alone cost $1,800.00 a month but he does have disability and medical coverage to cover some of those med cost because he had a heart attack and nearly died. One of those meds are Statins. Statins are known to increase the chances of diabetes. Its down right abuse what some of these standards of care are, what the insurance companies and these pharmaceutical companies are doing to both people and the economy.

Okay, back up a minute. If a patient is already diabetic and is put on statins, the statins didn't cause his diabetes. Can we start with that and work through the rest slowly?

Shooting up pregnant women with vaccines that contain pig viruses, Tdap and HIB viruses is that same type of nazi abuse used on the ignorant and uninformed.
