When Bush won despite the doubts about his legitimacy, you didn't see the reactions you see on the right today. No seccession talk existed. If it had they would have arrested the people doing it. Just like no fucking guns at a president's speech. They would have arrested them also. What hypocrisy.

They are okay with elections if they win, if not, then is not their America anymore.

Do any of them understand the words treason and traitor?

I really doubt it. In the far right, they seem to believe that if they don't like the elections they can just ignore the results.

Conservatives do believe in elections. You starry eyed--sheeple--that voted for an American Idol---not a POTUS need to understand something about us. We actually pay attention to the words--not staged lighting or perfectly pronounced speeches read from a teleprompter--or "GREEK" columns. We read through the Bull-shit--& when we see SOCIALISM-- we know exactly what that means. You Obama sheeple don't.

It means total goverment control over your LIFE. Socialism means--Government takes your money & they redistribute it to others. Regardless of the hard work you put into a new business or college education. Your money goes to a very inefficient government that thinks your money grows on trees-- so that they can distribute it to others who have not worked as hard as you. "Couch potatoe people"--expecting a free ride on the backs of others. That's what you VOTED for in Barack Obama & this administration.

It was past that. The Florida Supreme Court made a partisan decision to allow an unfair process to occur. One I might add that was specifically forbidden by the State Constitution. The only way to save the election results that have been proven over and over to have been correct, was for the Supreme Court to stop the new recount.

Ohh and there is NOTHING in the Constitution about what to do in a national Election if a State Supreme Court creates a situation like was created. Further a failure to have the vote certified by a set date means the entire State is barred from sending electors to the College. Which is exactly what Gore was trying to do.

Which is also what should have happened. If the results are in doubt, take the time to sort it out properly. If you can't, don't send electors and let the Constitutional process sort itself out.

I don't want to hijack this thread any further, so this will be my last word on this, but if a State so royally screws up, Congress should simply refuse to certify the results. The electors should be responsible enough to refuse to follow a bad result, etc.

There's a reason we keep the Electoral College around and its exactly for situations like the 2000 election. If we can't trust the Electors to sort out a mess like this, or at least punt a questionable result to the next Constitutional option, then why do we even have an Electoral College? Why go to the bother to select Electors?

SCOTUS interference was not necessary. The election result still had to get past Harris, then past the Electoral College, then past the Congress. Instead both Gore and Bush made an end run around the Constitution.

I'm not a fan of the GOP right now, but saying that a majority of the GOP won't accept him because he's black just isn't fair. There's some fringe elements in the GOP right now that won't accept him for that reason, but those guys are fringe.

Most GOP folk I personally know don't like Obama because they don't like his politics. That's fine. Part of what makes our nation great is that we can debate politics without having to inject the debate with things that don't matter in the long run.

I think there's a case that can be made that the really fringe Religious Right groups wouldn't accept Jesus, but it wouldn't be because of his skin. It would be because (like the Pharisees) they're convinced they know EXACTLY what the Bible means and aren't at all open to being told they've missed the point.

Seems you have finally figured out that there is a whole lot of people opposed to the socialistic agenda that this President is shoving down the throats of Americans. Dick Armey hasn't said he wants succession, he just wants this government to take responsibility and stop spending this country into bankruptsy. The voters, dem, repub and independents have snapped out of their Obama coma and are actually paying attention to his policies, the sleeping giant has awoken, the white guilt voter is gone because they realize that they just elected a President who only spent 150 days in the senate and was a community organizor before that.
