I really can’t picture DeSantis beating Biden

Biden can obviously beat Trump AGAIN. Quite honestly I think most people agree with that assessment regardless of whether or not they will admit it.

DeSantis is more complicated of course. Biden certainly has his share of polling vulnerabilities right now. However, I think what will be the deciding factor on this will be abortion. DeSantis’ stance is far right as you’d expect and the ongoing abortion legislation being passed state by state is only gaining momentum. Democrats did so well in 2022 in large part because of the female turnout opposing abortion. The issue isn’t going away either. It’s only going to galvanize more pro-choice voters as restrictions get past. The only thing that would save the GOP as far as this goes is by compromising their stance on the issue going forward. That is of course cowardly but the GOP want to win no matter what.

No amount of republican gerrymandering (cheating) will stop this issue’s influence in the fight for congress as well.

The concerns with Biden's age are real and reasonable. And there will be many who blame him for the inflation, even though what happened was inevitable.

His is not a stable situation, that's for sure. He's vulnerable to anyone the GQP puts up.

I heard an interesting theory: If Trump is the nominee, the election will be a referendum on him. If DeSantis runs, it will be a referendum on Biden.

Look, barring something dramatic happening, there is just no way Trump could beat Biden. GOP strategists and donors are well aware of this. Trump is going to be incredibly isolated in the lead up to the primary election.

Yeah, that's definitely my guess, but it was my guess in 2016 too

DeSantis is betting that Trump will be up to his eyeballs in legal shit, and that he's the next in line.

Admittedly I too was surprised by Trump’s victory in 2016, but it’s important to keep that election in perspective. Trump lost the popular vote and barely scraped by with a couple wins in key states. That’s all it came down to. He also benefitted from having an unpopular opponent. Any other democrat could have beaten Trump in that election. Hillary was just a huge swing and a miss.

7 million illegals voting in blues states will give you the assumption Trump lost the popular vote but he got the popular vote in 30 states

I rather suspect you think Biden would beat any Republican running against him. Just remember in 2020 Biden got to run on the myth of being good old blue collar Joe the working mans friend from Scranton who rides the train in 2024 the voters will have seen the real Joe Biden. While some will still be sold on him many we will see he is not what was sold to them in 2020.

DeSantis can't beat his way out of a bottle of Jergans!

Before to many write DeSantis off I would remind them it was just over six months ago that he totally destroyed the George Hamilton of politics Charlie Crist in the Florida Governors race. National elections as we all know are on different scale than state elections still that was an epic ass kicking.

In a normal world there would be no chance whatsoever of Biden winning re-election.
When you consider what all that has happened in this country since he became president, the historic border invasion, historically high gas prices, historic inflation, rising interest rates, stock prices, turning 80 fucking years old, he should be on the wrong end of not just a landslide election, but an avalanche. Instead, he'll most likely win. What an awful time to be an American.

Him beating Biden is a moot point, as he's as committed to defeating the world's united enemy against freedom as Biden.
Trump may be the only hope for an antiwar president, even though Trump is likely lying about that too.

Those fiat currency printing press legislation packages passed were not exactly frugal. They paid off all of their people involved in agendas. A little more frugal and the inflation would be much lower if at all.

I can picture my neighbor Larry beating Biden.

I think that DeSantis would have a decent chance. Most people outside of Flirida don't know who he is and he could get a lot of republican and center right votes.

But I'm 100% certain that Trump will run as a third party candidate or an independent if he doesn't g e t the nomination and would cost DeSantis the election.

Trump said he was going to turn the GOP into the Worker's Party.
