I don't understand why republicans reject both a minimum wage hike and welfare for the poor

Believe it or not, both the left and the right want to end welfare for the poor. The left just has a realistic and humane way of doing it.

$153 billion of public assistance is spent on people because of their low wage jobs. 18 million people make less than $10.10 per hour. How many more do you think make less than $15? If the minimum was raised to $10.10, republicans are to stupid/immature to realize that far less people would be eligible for programs like food stamps. It would dramatically fix the fucking problem of the poor on welfare!

Like it or not, $15 as a minimum wage would be a base wage kept up with the rate of inflation. The last time someone could live comfortably off 10.10 per hour was the fucking 60s. Since the recession, low wage jobs out number higher wage jobs. That means MILLIONS OF PEOPLE have no choice but to accept low wage jobs.

As long as it was gradually raised over a couple of years, the initial cost to the market would be minimized. Prices would go up, but not nearly enough to offset the consumer spending power created by it. Consumer spending would boom. The market would begin to create jobs. Way more than the jobs that would have been scrapped initially. Prices would also go down.

Look the only reason most (not all) CEOs are against raising wages is because it just easier to for them to keep the ridiculous money they make rather than invest in a strong labor force. The average CEO makes over 300x what the average worker makes. Sure we can all agree CEOs deserve a wealthy life for all their hard work, but do you really think they deserve 300x more?

Hell no.

They stayed in school, got educated, got a marketable skill, didn't have a bunch of kids they couldn't afford and you want to reward those who did none of these things just because they breath. Bullshit.

You repubs have such one track minds. Yes obviously many single women have children that they shouldn't have had, but why don't you ever think of the kids? Should those kids grow up in poverty because of their irresponsible mother? They need public support if there aren't higher wages available.

Maybe we are sick and tired of you libs taking our money and using it to buy votes via welfare freebies.
You people have no concept of who is on welfare and how much they actually get. You just believe what you want about the poor because it makes you feel superior and validated. You are insecure people really.

You are so thick. You live in a fantasy land. All i am talking about is raising the minimum wage. THAT'S IT. The wealthy will still be wealthy. The world will keep turning. Capitalism will thrive you ass.

Kindly explain to me how you can raise one segment of the work force's pay without raising ALL of the work force's pay, Billy? Do you not grasp that's something that would have to happen? Do you also not grasp that raising everyone's pay doesn't really do anything for the poor since the cost of goods and services would go up right along with that increased pay? Do you really gain anything if you make fifteen dollars an hour and the cost of everything you buy goes up substantially? It's a con game, Billy and you're getting suckered into believing it's viable economics.

Should we have had a welfare system that encouraged single women to have multiple children? That's what we've been doing for much of the last thirty years. How's that been working out? Are the kid's of the poor better off now than they were before our entitlement society?

What the fuck? Nothing about this system encourages women to have multiple children. Are you that dense? You're talking about $152 billion a year. A sum of money that mostly feeds kids who would starve otherwise you dip. The mother is not fucking profiting off of it Christ's sakes. What they actually get is fucking peanuts. They are dirt poor government help or none, It's madness the way you people bitch about this, Why dont you people freak out about the ridiculous amount we spend on defense?

I already explained this to you as well as in my OP. The price increase would be small in comparison to the boost in consumer spending, Something at McDoanld's would go up 15 cents while the customer would much more to spend on the menu because he makes a couple hundred more a month.. And like I said, the raise would be gradual over a few years. That gives the market time to respond to it.

Its yet another troll thread from billy triple fail.
Hey, Billy. Min wage increases lock out those at the bottom of the job ladder from ever getting jobs. You cannot pay 10/hr to someone only worth 5/hr. Check unemployment rates for black teenagers compared to min wage increases. They rise in direct proportion. Min wage is racist and it keeps people poor. Like most liberal policies.

Hey Billy Triple Fail. Min wage workers are all over the income scale. But businesses that employ them cater mostly to poorer people. So increases in min wage hurt the poor, raising their costs disproportionately.

Thats easy.

Raising the minimum wage will reduce jobs.

Guess all those kids looking for a Summer job will be out of luck because most folks who are hired at minimum wage move up the payscale after thirty days. If they don't its because they weren't worth a fuck at the job and were shown the door.

As for Welfare?? As a taxpayer I'm sick of bankrolling the lives of idiots and irresponsible idiots and those who know how to play the system.

Loads of freeloaders out there who have no problem taking money. Why get a job when the Govt is paying you not to.

Billy, why do you engage these dumb fucks?
It would be one thing if they could prove what they say. But I get so fucking tired of the bullshit about how prices are going to rise so dramatically if some poor working person gets a modest raise.

They are full of shit billy. But you already know that.

For instance, the idiot posing as a Claudette, in one post shows how fucking ridiculous their position is.
Right off the bat; Raising the MW will reduce jobs. A sentence later, she claims that MW workers get a raise within 30 days of working.

Which of course begs the question; where is all this fucking inflation in the general economy from MW workers getting a raise in only 30 days, and why are companies still hiring MW workers when the know they will give them more money quickly. Evidently the companies don't know that the increase in wages they gave to a MW workers would mean less hiring. And terrible inflation.

Then our resident right wrongers still can't understand what you told them already. An increase in earnings will mean fewer people qualifying for and receiving government assistance.

Good luck in your quest to educate the willfully stupid.

You've made it clear the only way you can make more money is if the government forces businesses to pay their lowest skilled employees more. Instead of improving yourself and becoming more marketable you want to confiscate someone else's earnings. Like a leach.
