Only an idiot leftwing radical would say that shooting an attacker in self defense is wrong because it denies the person their right to a fair trial. This logic says that it's better for that attacker or home invader to go ahead with the raping and murder so they can have their day in court. Victims deserve nothing. It's all about doing what is in the best interest of the rapists and murderers. Shooting them is wrong. You have a duty to die or get raped so that the criminal can have a trial. To shoot someone just because they kick the door in and barge into your bedroom in the middle of the night makes you the criminal because you don't care about the person's rights.

All shall-issue states have criteria that determine when a homicide is justifiable for self defense. They are fairly broad and generally favor a reasonable shooter. So there is nothing to worry about in these cases.

In the states which are may-issue and do not really issue, their laws create crimes for most homicides which are normally self defense.

The only solution is to move.
