Asked about the strike that killed him, a senior adviser to the president's campaign suggests he should've "had a more responsible father."

Cornered by reporters with video cameras, former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, a senior adviser to President Obama's reelection campaign, attempted to defend the kill list that the Obama Administration uses to determine whose body should next be blown apart. American drone strikes have resulted in hundreds of dead innocents in the last four years, even as the program has killed a number of high-level al Qaeda terrorists. There are two remarkable things about the ensuing exchange, which eventually turns into a discussion about a dead 16-year-old kid:

First, it's vital for the uninitiated to understand how Team Obama misleads when it talks about its drone program. Asked how their kill list can be justified, Gibbs replies that "When there are people who are trying to harm us, and have pledged to bring terror to these shores, we've taken that fight to them." Since the kill list itself is secret, there's no way to offer a specific counterexample. But we do know that U.S. drones are targeting people who've never pledged to carry out attacks in the United States.

Take Pakistan, where the CIA kills some people without even knowing their identities. "As Obama nears the end of his term, officials said the kill list in Pakistan has slipped to fewer than 10 al-Qaeda targets, down from as many as two dozen," the Washington Post reports. "The agency now aims many of its Predator strikes at the Haqqani network, which has been blamed for attacks on U.S. forces in Afghanistan." The vast majority would never make their way to New York or Washington, D.C., and the Obama Administration would never agree to rules that permitted only the killing of threats to "the homeland"...

So you are saying that it's OK for terrorists to kill American military personnel in Afghanistan, and the U.S. government should not protect American soldiers?

We are at war. Civilians DIE in war. That's why war is HELL.

Shouldn't we kill enemy combatants engaged in a war against us?

My, how times have changed. I can remember when the right was telling us that "You're either with us or you're with the terrorists". Now they are crying crocodile tears over traitors who have left the US to join Al Queda.

What terrorists? Just say what it really is. Combatants. They are fighting on their own sovereign land.

Those were Neocon frauds. And it was never proven this 16-year-old boy had anything to do with Terrorism. Our Government brutally murdered him just for being a Terrorist's child. It's indefensible.

Well shit, for the right wing, all the kid would need for them to want him dead is to need affordable healthcare. Then it's "let him die."

So he caught a bad break. His dad was a terrorist asshole and he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Collateral damage. Of course they (the terrorists) could have strapped a bomb on him and had him walk into a crowd, like they do in Israel. Then you wingnuts would be all over Obama for not taking him out.

Your worship of your beloved Dear Leader is turning you into an ignorant asshole. You Socialists/Progressives are no different than Neocons. As long as you have the power, anything goes. Same ole Same ole i guess.

I don't worship Obama or any other politician. It is your desire to want to pin every unfortunate turn of events onto the president that is turning you into a partisan douche.

What would you do differently? Allow the terrorists to do as they will? Only allow the killing of terrorists by spec-ops up close and personal rather than by remote control? Drop Miranda leaflets before blowing them to small bits? Why is the prosecution of war OK when a Republican does it (and does a hell of a lot more of it), but when Obama does it, the sky is falling.

Stop defending the indefensible. He was just a child. Take your Obama/Democrat-Worship hat off for a bit, and then get back to me.

There are kids a lot younger than that strapping explosives to their bodies and blowing up school busses and shopping bazaars in Israel. There were lots of kids younger than that blown up in the bombing of Bagdad. What makes Anwar Al Awlaki's kid so near and dear to conservative's hearts? Why no crocodile tears for all the other unfortunates? Where was the outcry when Reagan killed Qaddafi's 4 year old daughter in 1986?

Did you cry when your Dear Leader brutally murdered Qaddafi's children? I doubt it. But that's not the point anyway. You're defending the indefensible because it's your fellow political partisans doing the murdering now. Nothing more, nothing less.

As I have stated before, I don't worship Obama or any other politician, whereas you seem to worship the man, the movement, the myth - Ron Paul. I'm not defending anything. The prosecution of war against Al Qaeda terrorists needs no defense from me. And our armed forces servicemen are not murderers. Frankly, I find that statement quite offensive.
