Supreme Court: Ross protected from 2020 census questions

The Supreme Court is siding with the Trump administration to block the questioning of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross about his decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 census.

The unsigned order Monday overrides lower federal courts in New York that would have allowed the questioning of Ross to proceed in lawsuits challenging the addition of a citizenship question on the decennial census for the first time since 1950.

New York on pace to lose 1 congressional seat in 2022

ALBANY — It's likely that New York will lose one of its 27 congressional seats in the 2022 reapportionment because its small growth in population hasn't kept pace with the nation as a whole.

According to Census Bureau estimates released Wednesday, New York’s population was 19.85 million as of July 1. That’s up by 471,297 from the last decennial census conducted in 2010.

DECATUR — The mass of people leaving Illinois could soon add up to another loss — one of the state’s 18 seats in Congress.

The exodus dropped Illinois from the fifth-most populated state to the sixth in December, based on U.S. Census data showing that 33,703 moved out between July 2016 and July 2017.

It shouldn't really matter that much, as Proportional Representation would mean that everyone gets one vote, everyone gets representation, and the US can finally become a democratic country.

God forbid that people actually get a say in how THEIR OWN country functions.

^ there it is. The Reps (I'm not a Dem thank you very much) will say ANYTHING to get what they want.

One person, one vote is "mob rule", instead we need a system where most people don't get a say.... then it's better because..... the "mob" isn't ruling the country, the RICH are.

Why do you think it's better if the rich are the only ones who get to decide what happens?

Also "mob rule" would hurt both the Dems and the Reps. It would allow other parties, more choice for people when it comes to choosing their "representatives" and actually REPRESENTATION.

I wonder why you're scared of people actually having representation in parliament.

Because parliaments strip people of their rights.

No right to free speech in places like Germany and Canada. No right to own firearms to protect yourself.

No thanks!

With 5 million illegals California could lose more then 5 seats .....lol

Do they? Well the US has parliaments, it has the House and the Senate.

And the US has rights? You have a president trying to take rights away from non-straight people.

Also, all rights have LIMITS, as in Germany, Canada, the US and everywhere else.

And guns? Rights to guns? Well not everyone thinks that a gun is a right.

CENSUS FEARS: Could California lose a seat in Congress? -- BLASEY FORD still can’t go home -- MOTOR VOTER 'on the ropes?' -- ALEX SPANOS dead at 95 -- Trump crowd on FEINSTEIN: Chants of 'lock her up'

California could “easily” lose a seat in Congress, PPIC found, if immigrants already spooked by the Trump administration are afraid of filling out forms, or worried about possible deportation. And if cost-cutting — which has led to initiatives like focusing more on online surveys — means counters don’t cover harder-to-reach populations like young people, African-Americans and renters. Forfeiting that 53rd seat would take either a combination of the two, or an undercount that misses a fifth of households with at least one undocumented immigrant.

When has citizenship ever had any relevance in the apportionment of Congressional seats?

It doesn't matter what people think, the right to own guns is in the Constitution..and it's hell to change it

No, they don’t. The Census is the total count of all people and the number of congressional seats awarded to each state is based on the total population. Whether or not the people are a citizen has never been a factor in over 200 years

Too bad that will never happen. You need a constitutional amendment, and if you open that door, we have a TRUCK LOAD of constitutional amendments to add to the pile. I will be open-carrying machine guns in elementary schools before you can shit your pants.

And I don't think California loses that many seats because of illegals. I think California will lose 3 seats because of mass migration to non-communist states.
