The music companies are already heavily maketing 3-5 song CD's at a lower price than an album in places like Best Buy and you can easliy purchase and download single songs from the web for a buck or so ..

I was wondering how long the music industry/business will ask artists for full length albums to produce and sell in CD format? or perhaps the CD album is going the way of the LP?? or will the full length album last forever??

It's essentialy been dead since they stopped making records.

During the heyday of album rock, you had to have a bunch of good songs or you didn't get air play, that no longer matters.

The 45 or single was around, sold well, and got artists airplay without them having a full length album..

But you didn't make the real money which was in touring unless you had an hour's worth of material.

Good point.. and that makes sense..

..so your saying if the album goes away or has already.. no more tours for newer artists who dont produce full length albums.. or newer artists wont tour until they have an hours worth of stuff to open for another band..

or are you saying the days of good albums are gone??..

It is hurting tours, did you notice that old act sell out, yet many newer acts can't even get gigs?

There is no such thing as a left over stones ticket.
