How heavy are your kids' backpacks? Study shows it could harm their health

It has nothing to do with "toughness." It has to do with a still-growing childs spine being permanently damaged by the weight.

I carried a very heavy backpack when I was in school and was diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12. But when I was in junior high it was NOT cool to carry your booksack on your back with both shoulders, only could use one. So thats what I did, and now my spine looks like Watkins Glen.

I went to school before backpacks. You were expected to carry your books home in your arms.
