How do the "poor" live so well in the US?

They're by far the richest "Poor People" on Planet Earth. They do just fine. Hard-Working American Taxpayers support their couch-potato Video Game playing Asses. That's how they live so well. It really is that simple in the end.

there is some truth to this.....i had some girl exchange students living in an apt on my route from Kenya.....they were talking to some people while waiting for their mail.....everyone was asking them about the difference in lifestyles.....and one girl said that a poor person in Africa would exchange places with a poor person here in a heartbeat...and i said to her....."even in Detroit?".....she said "even in Detroit".....she said the African kid would work his way out of the Ghetto, not stay there.....

The Haves and the Have-Nots

America’s poorest are, as a group, about as rich as India’s richest.

Notice how the entire line for the United States resides in the top portion of the graph? That’s because the entire country is relatively rich. In fact, America’s bottom ventile is still richer than most of the world: That is, the typical person in the bottom 5 percent of the American income distribution is still richer than 68 percent of the world’s inhabitants.

Don't worry... if you guys get your way... they'll be bloat bellied little skeletons... just like you like 'em.

Do you really have a steel plate in your noggin?
I mean, could I use my TV remote to make you dance?

Let's play a little game, Steelie,...if you're up to it.
Imagine that you actually incorporated the information in the OP into your psyche...

....then, would does it logically follow that folks with the accoutrements listed in the OP would exhibit "bloat bellied little skeletons..."???

Remember...we're pretending that you have the God-given ability to think....

Good, Steelie....I see you shaking your little head! Good boy.

Now, if the OP speaks truth, consider where you got the idea that large segments of the population would exhibit "bloat bellied little skeletons.."
Right! Those calculating Lefties had brainwashed you! Very good!

Now, go back and get that GED!

Perhaps you should RE-READ my post... notice that I said "IF YOU GUYS GET YOUR WAY" they will become bloat bellied little skeletons...

Get your OWN fucking GED you illiterate tramp.

Why aren't the American poor as destitute as the poor in Somalia?

It certainly isn't a lack of trying on the part of Republicans.

Obama’s Brother: “I Still Live In A Slum”

In November 2008, I stood in a bar in Kenya watching Barack Obama give his victory speech

Except Obama's brother doesn't want the President's money.

George Obama: I was brought up well. I live well even now. The magazines, they have exaggerated everything … There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you [the reporter] come from, there are the same challenges.

That was a very informative link you provided....spend a lot of time vetting it?

It asks "Is Obama’s brother really dirt poor in Kenya and living on a dollar a day?"

...but neglects to answer it.....

Good work.

I guess we're suppose to criticize the poor in America because they're not as destitute as the poor in Somalia is what I take away from some of the posts in this thread. Though it seems those who want to say the poor in America aren't really poor are just deciding to ignore basic economics.

Which was my point that Politicalchic didn't have the intelligence or the Imagination to comprehend... maybe she'll get it now. thanks.

The people classified "poor" was based on their income level, not by the appliances they owned.
A majority of these people live in apartments which typically supply basic appliances, cable/satellite hook ups etc.
I volunteer at the local Salvation Army store fours hours a week, which sells used furniture/appliances/electronics, clothes,:etc, the stores customers are the poor.
Does the cute little chart take in consideration your typical apartment, low income housing, used goods purchased by the poor or charity? I doubt it.

Your "fact" does really shows nothing
It does not say he "does not" want it
Besides, it really is up to Papa Obama to offer it

He still lives in a hut

Perhaps he is doing better because

Side note
I do not say this to be mean

But the moving gif of the muppet is pretty gay
Maybe people are afraid to tell you...

I witnessed this: A food stamp recipient is informed by the cashier that food stamps do not cover pet food. The recipient puts the dog food away and buys sirloin steak.

I witnessed this: Bums (urban outdoorsmen) arrive at a street corner in Atlanta in a new Mercedes, unload, disperse and work several street corners before returning to the pick up point, entering the same Mercedes and retiring for the night.

Poor is a relative term. You wanna see poor people? Look at Ethopia, Bangladesh, remote CHINA...India and other places where the "poor" live on pennies per day.

All of a sudden, here in the USA we consider anyone that doesn't have a 52" flat screen TV as being "poor".

What a stupid bunch of fucking liberals we have defining "poor"!

Yup! And don't forget their Video games. They gots to have their Video Games. Yea it's the American Taxpayers who deserve the sympathy & respect. They pay for all their fun after all. But the Socialists/Progressives continue to paint the American Taxpayers as the bad guys. They get no respect. And that is a terrible travesty. "Poor People" in America don't have it so bad. Just look at the rest of the World if you don't believe me. Taxpayers definitely deserve more respect & gratitude.

Yep... it's the downward spiral that every Conservative wants to see happen... even to themselves.... all so the top 4-500 people in the country can accumulate as much of the wealth as possible.... and then... just when you think they can't get anymore???? they'll blame some other area for all the problems... so they can take advantage of it.

I've been to a few third world countries also. There is no comparison of our poor vs third world poor. It's night and day.

It should have been this

Now wait a sec... I thought you guys said that over 50% of the people of the United States doesn't pay Federal Income tax... according to your graphic... either one OR the other is a lie... which is it?

I know you're a dimocrat but the question at hand is "why do they live so well here in the US of KKKA"?

While I do not agree the way poverty can be gauged can be based on material products, we should all give thanks to FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon and especially LBJ because all these men continued the work begun after republican policies of the twenties brought the greatest economic collapse so far, the great depression. Should the tea party ideologues have their way, the republicans may once again bring about economic collapse. Reagan/Bush required bailouts, Bush Jr required massive bailouts that still linger, but given the morons elected to the house in 2010 who knows what stupidity awaits what was once a great nation.
