What you suggest goes against microevolution. Yes, my expert states that all pterosaurs used their superior gliding abilities to fly long distance. However, you assume the pterosaur walks on its hind legs. What if it walked on fours? Many scientists think it walked on fours.

The flight of the pterasaur I have already explained. The bone structure and the likelihood that much gliding was involved.

As for giants, you will have to be more specific. Legends? Myths? Just very vary people? What needs explaining?

The atmosphere s made up of several gasses. Each has a different density. For a number of reasons, the concentrations of any given gas can vary. Millions of years ago, there were very different levels of each gas. So the density would be different.

Structurally they are much like bats. Which climb very well, and even live on walls and ceilings. Climbing a cliff at the waters edge would be simple.

How would walking on all fours preclude climbing a cliff?

You know, for a few years, I lived in Missoulla Montana, and hang gliding was pretty big there. People would jump off of the mountain, and would stay in the air, sometimes for hours because there were lots of thermals in the valley. Was really fun and interesting to see them catch one and glide around in an upward spiral.

Now, the OP originally posted that the dinosaur weighed around 50 lbs, and had a wingspan of around 18 ft.

Current hang gliders are approximately 24 ft across, and can carry people up to 250 lbs. Some places where they fly are so rampant with thermals that a person can jump off the mountain in the morning and not land until the evening.

With all that being said, yes, it is possible for the dinosaurs to have been able to glide quite effectively, and, there is also a chance that the shape of their head may have made it easy for them to detect thermals so they could fly up.

    .

In some ways ... Flying is like controlled crashing ...
    Like walking is controlled falling.
If you have ever seen a woodpecker fly ... They are a perfect example.

The atmosphere did not have to be less dense.
