IF YOU THOUGHT THINGS WERE GETTING BETTER BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE CRAPPOLA LIES COMING FROM WASHINGTON (and the Obama stooges), LOOK AT RETAIL SALES FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF.

Where does the chart come from Neubarth?

What are the numbers on the left, just a relative comparison?

Where I live several businesses have shut down. Is that happening everywhere? How does that influence the 'official numbers' for retail sales.

Legit questions, don't take it any other way.

I can assure you that my wife will do her part to help keep Wal-Mart's sales on a steady path...

LOL, that's what my wife does!

Our walmart here is the only one for about a 100 mile radius, and draws a lot of customers from the Apache, Zuni and Navajo reservations. Actually more than from the local non-indian communities.
I know it might be politically incorrect to say this, BUT.......
When the indians spend their government checks at walmart, is that stimulating the economy?

And before you jump my butt about the word indian, I have spent many years working on these reservations. The indians i know prefer to be called indians.

Neighbor has a small furniture store.

He has lots of time to watch the financial news on tV, as customers never seem to bother him.

He owns the building he is in, and there are 3 other shopfronts. Last year at this time all four shops were still open, his is the only one left.

I keep seeing more and more vacant store fronts.

It has been three months since I was at Wallmart, and six months since I was at the local mall.

It looks like Goodwill is doing a land office business though.

Why do you feel like you need to preemptively defend a statement you make about indians?

Nothing about what you said was politically incorrect, or racist, or whatever.

Why the guilt?

been attacked on this board before for calling indians indians........

on an amusing side note; The apache reservation sits in the black and white river valleys, the town of whiteriver is at about 5000 ft. The walmart is in town, and sits at about 8000 ft. About 4 years ago, while having lunch with the chairman of the tribe, he told me this joke. "You know they call walmart 'apache heaven, it's up on top and all the apaches want to go there'

Just a suggestion, post what you want. Don't worry about what some tight assed poster thinks about something you said. You don't owe anyone on this board SHIT.

Are you white? Because if you are, you really ought to quit feeling guilty about it and just say what you feel. Fuck what someone else thinks about what you say.

It's not like you came in here and said fuck all the ******* and the featherhead apple casino boys.

Relax my man

No I didn't say anything like that, and actually wouldn't. I don't even know what 'the featherhead apple boys' are.(?)
When i grew up in NC, I was considered "almost white". (yep, heard it several times) Where I live now, i am considered 'anglo'. There really isn't racial tension here between anglos and indians. Most of the racial tension here is between the apaches and navajos, or navajos and Paiutes, or zunis and the rest of them.
A common insult to hear on the streets of whiteriver is "f**k you you zuni"...
Kinda funny really.

Probably doing a lot more to stimulate China's economy than our own.

But that aside, any time money changes hands, the economy is stimulated to some degree.

Well featherhead is obvious, but native americans are sometimes called apples as a derogatory term because they're 'red on the outside and white on the inside'.

I'm pretty sure if I was ever called an apple I'd be beside myself with grief for the rest of my life

I went to "Books-a Million" the other day bought a magazine, 3 childrens books for my daughter and one small business book for my wife...price tag $143.76

Naaaaa....prices haven't risen...there's no such thing as inflation....:booze:

AMEN!

Only my wife's keeping Costco afloat.
My doctor has been trying to scare the shit outta me about having a heart attack, so I have started eating "healthy" and Costco has some fantastic Jalapeno - Cilantro Hummis that I have become fond of. It is best on corn chips.
