House Warns Obama on Iran

If all of you believe Iran is no threat why don't you just give them the technology for nuclear reactors?

Better yet, why not just give them a couple of nukes? You trust them so much why not embrace them and give them nukes?

You say we should trust their intentions. Help them out then.

USMB nutters spout of as though the US is the master and the nations of the ME are our pet dogs. We are talking about sovereign nations. Whether or not they develop a nuclear weapon is not up to us. Unless we are willing to abandon our own nuclear weapons and enlist the UN to ensure that all nations do the same.......who the fuck are we to demand that any one nation do so?

You fuckers can "but.....but....but" yourselves into anything if you allow yourselves to be frightened. I'd advise that you temper that desire.

But Senator Cotton and 46 other Senators! World ending open letter. Now Democrats are involved, the left is changing their tune.

No. Are you guys really that dense? It's NOT changing the tune. A letter to the president is the appropriate way to handle it. A letter to Iran makes them look like amateurish newbies without a clue.

Even the French want a strong and verifiable agreement with Iran and don't believe Obama is doing enough to secure this:

"Any nuclear deal with Iran should be robust enough to guarantee that Tehran could not acquire an atomic bomb, France's foreign minister said Saturday."

Meanwhile Iranians make clear their love for Obama:

"The Americans “want to turn the people against the government,” Khamenei said, calling Obama’s message “dishonest.”"

"As the supreme leader spoke, a crowd chanted, “Death to America.” Khamenei said the rhetoric was justified because America is behind all threats to Iran."

That Democrats have joined Republicans to voice their concerns to Obama is not really all that surprising.

Your boy toy Putin built their entire program. Maybe he could just give them nukes instead?

Actually rolling it back to July could make the think less political within the US ... or at least more reasoned and less emotional.

The French argument has been that setting a deadline for an agreement with Iran is counterproductive. Their argument has been that the rush to conclude an agreement by the end of March or any other date reduces the ability of the participating countries to negotiate a strong and verifiable agreement. The French held this position long before the Bibi affair.

Yes, but it may allow Obama a way to walk it back. Obama is seen, imo, as being willing to give up more just to get an agreement for legacy purposes. And, I don't think that's an unreasonable view. Israel is now totally without any input. It seems to me that Obama's hand with congress is strengthened if it's perceived as an intl agreement, with France's tougher stance accommodated. Iran certainly won't like that, but I think they're about as desperate for an agreement and end for sanctions as Obama is.

The 47 senators and their letter made them not only look like fools on the world stage, it also made the US look unstable and foolish.
These are the same folks who are constantly crying about the world's respect for the US, well they shot the US in the foot on that one.
It seems that this group of senators and also our House want to hear what they want to hear. Mossad says Iran have no nuclear weapons program in place, but Bibi used fear politics to win his election and ignore his own intelligence. As the far right loves to use fear politics, they ate up what Bibi had to say and of course ignored the intelligence that contradicted Bibi. They don't even mention the Mossad report as though it never existed.
Leaked cables show Netanyahu’s Iran bomb claim contradicted by Mossad
Binyamin Netanyahu’s dramatic declaration to world leaders in 2012 that Iran was about a year away from making a nuclear bomb was contradicted by his own secret service, according to a top-secret Mossad document.
It is part of a cache of hundreds of dossiers, files and cables from the world’s major intelligence services – one of the biggest spy leaks in recent times.
Brandishing a cartoon of a bomb with a red line to illustrate his point, the Israeli prime minister warned the UN in New York that Iran would be able to build nuclear weapons the following year and called for action to halt the process.
But in a secret report shared with South Africa a few weeks later, Israel’s intelligence agency concluded that Iran was “not performing the activity necessary to produce weapons”. The report highlights the gulf between the public claims and rhetoric of top Israeli politicians and the assessments of Israel’s military and intelligence establishment.

The letter signed by 47 Senators, an open letter, merely set the Iranians straight on how things actually work in the USA. Obama was more than likely leading the Iranians to believe that whatever he signed is a diktat (I've got a pen) and that no one can do anything about. They set the record straight. The failed LW meme regarding that open letter is over.

The French have been hard lining this for quite a while. This from 2013:

Iranian and Western diplomats said they were broadsided when Mr. Fabius broke diplomatic protocol and told French radio Saturday afternoon that Paris wouldn’t accept a deal with inadequate mechanisms for limiting Iran’s ability both to enrich uranium and to bring the Arak facility online. Diplomats in the P5+1 said Mr. Fabius’s interview broke an agreement among the parties not to publicly discuss the details of the negotiations.

Well, good for the French! We need all parties dealing with Iran to toughen up.
On another note, I guess that means the ten plus years of bashing the French over their opinion on the US's invasion of Iraq has been forgiven by conservatives. I'll stop order Freedom Fries.

Obama is afflicted with a deep and incurable moral disease. One symptom is that he considers himself emancipated from the restraints of the law of the country whose trust has been placed in him...the country he Serves; not Rules.

Finally, finally, Democrats are waking up to this fact, as evidenced by the letter from the House signed by many many Democrats.

The chief symptom of this bad man's psychopathology is clear. He is a Fool.

The evidence is abundant.

His advisors are Valerie Jarrett (raised in Iran); Susan Rice (proven liar); and John Kerry (liar, fool, and pompous ass)---and Obama and this group of clowns is trying to make a deal with Religious Lunatics whose very religion tells them that no deal made with Infidels is ever binding...and to top it off, he is being more of a pussy about it than the French.

In foreign relations, you must never ever out-pussy the French.

Looks like 100 or so Democrats in the House have come to their senses. Thank the Lord.

This is a totalitarian country. Obama is just a puppet.

Quote, “Cheney gives the orders here now, not Obama, and you assholes better get used to it!”
Tuesday, 10 March 2015

A shocking report published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) today states that the Kremlin was “stunned” yesterday after Minister Sergey Lavrov endured a nearly one-hour tirade from US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland [photo top right] who, among other claims, “raged” that former Vice President Richard “Dick” Cheney was in charge of the United States, not President Barack Obama.
According to this report, a “highly agitated” Secretary Nuland contacted Minister Lavrov yesterday demanding that Russia immediately order Iran to return to US custody the 4 CIA agents arrested and detained for directing ISIS terror forces in Iraq.
.
Secretary Nuland, also, this report continues, “bluntly warned” Minister Lavrov that should Moscow ever again provide to France, or any other NATO nation, superior “electronic-technology”, and for the Russian air force to continue disabling US warships, she would further order the American military to “aggressively respond”.

How do you feel about a President addressing the people of a terrorist nation directly on TV?

I doubt you have ever read the definition of treason, the one and only crime specifically defined in the Constitution.

Obama got on TV and directly appealed to the people of a terrorist nation because Bibi shamed him again.

Letter is no biggie compared to that.
Says a supporter of Putin and Russia, who built Iran's entire nuclear program.
Stupid retort. Non one here supports the tyrannical Putin....You're just pissed of because Putin thumbed his nose at Obama and that fact was reported...and discussed at length.
"Nothing to see here" and "There's no there there" is not governing.
