House Approves Bill to Lift Drilling Moratorium

These EnviroFreaks need to be marginalized for the fruitcakes they really are. Oil is NOT bad.

It is called the WORLD oil supply for a reason. As the demand continues to increase in China and India, prices will continue to rise because of supply/demand. Any input to the WORLD oil supply will increase supply which lowers the price. Econ 101, not Daily Kos propaganda.

So by the time we hit some producers, drill here drill now will not have any effect the price on the world market(except a reactionary bump from the speculators) for several years and even after they come online, due to rising demand might not offset the increase in demand from this country.

Yeah, that's what they said 30 years ago. If we would have ignored the EnviroNazis, we wouldn't be having this retarded-ass discussion.

Actually if Raygun had not ignored Carter and kept working to solve the our problem of depending on foriegn sources of energy instead of leaving it to the market and OPEC, we would be seen as an endless occupying force in the ME!

But I do think there need to be moratorium on the number of lawsuits that can be filed against a particular lease site.

Since when did Obama have to explain himself?

I just dont think he will get away with everything his election

You are seriousley underestimating the ignorance of the American voter.

And there's a lot of that going on.

If anyone needs proof of the ignorance and stupidity of many Americans, tune in Parking Wars some time if you've got access to the A & E cable channel.

drill or don't drill....

oil prices will NOT drop by us drilling....oil is on a global market and follows global trends....

the oil drilled off our shore could be sold to foreign countries, there is nothing that governs this and prevents this from happening...so let's just be CLEAR on that part of it too....

That's not how markets work, Dear

Stop believing the bullshit spewed by EnviroMarxists

That is PRECISELY how the markets work, dear. Drilling off US shores will do NOTHING because our existing oil refinieries already sell oil across the glode. Unless of course, you are talking about our Federal government socializing oil drilling off our shores and mandating that it only be sold to the US?

Speculators are betting that world oil supplies will not meet demand in the future, so any increase in the future supply help meet supply and will lower the price.

There are those that say OPEC will merely lower their production to offset any US increased production. That would be OK with me, since I would much prefer that American workers have jobs and American oil companies get my money rather than those that sponsor terrorism. (with your and my money)

Oil comes out of the ground in different grades. Heavy, medium and light crude grades refer to the viscosity of the crude. The terms sweet and sour crude refer to the sulfur content. Light sweet crude demands the highest price because it is the easiest to refine into gasoline, kerosene, and high quality diesel. Sour crude is the least desirable and is refined into fuel oil and diesel.

It makes perfect sense to sell the heavy sour crude to refiners that are equipped to process it, regardless where they are in the world. In turn, our refiners get light sweet crude to refine into gasoline.

The ignorance displayed to restrict the movement of oil throughout the world by Congressional Dems is rather typical.

Sure can tell that it's a campaign year. I waiting to see what happens when and if the rubber meets the road......after the election. After all, we want to be Brazils best customer.
It's not like this lip service hasn't happened before.

Fortunately, in the US about 75% of refineries can handle heavy sour crude,

That's not by chance but by design. As domestic production fell over the years, our main avenue of imports was shit crude from around the world.

The majors, such as Marathon, do not want to be bothered with U.S. oil. It's extremely labor and capital intensive to send trucks around the countryside collecting 150 barrels per trip. An associate was told as much by Marathon HQ. To quote: "We don't need your oil".

Speculators look at current drilling conditions and speculate on future supply, so they will figure in more supply with their speculations once we start drilling here.

Liberals have been lying for decades claiming domestic oil drilling can't influence the price here today. They have prevented drilling in numerous locations and stopped new refineries going back to the 70s....so they have caused this situation.

If you say so. Of course they can't make gasoline out of it.

ROTF. Of course they can.

Bummer for Obama but I think he's held this Nation Hostage long enough don't you?

We hold ourselves hostage regarding our energy supplies. That is why our leaders (Republicans and Democrats alike) give Abdullah a blowjob whenever he asks for it.

Plus, Obama has opened up 1.8 million acres in Alaska for drilling, but contards like to conveniently overlook this fact

I meant to say refiners prefer not to make gasoline because it costs a helluva lot more than making fuel oil or diesel from heavy sour crude . My foot is now removed from my mouth.

And, the diminished supply of light sweet crude is one of the reasons for the increase in the price of gasoline.
