‘Hope cancer kills you soon’: Tolerant Left reaches out to Julie Boonstra

People with cancer will be denied treatment with drugs that are deemed too expensive by the ACA bureaucracy. It will also take away the financial rewards to drug companies for developing new cancer drugs.

Give up all hope ye who enter here.

As usual, you are full of shit. Have you EVER in your sad little life questioned your beloved 'private' sector?

WHY should America citizens pay twice as much as the rest of the world for the EXACT same drug? This issue came to the forefront during the Medicare D debate when Bush FORBID the government from negotiating directly with drug companies for lower prices.

Some states set up websites to allow citizens to buy the EXACT same drugs from Canada.

Let the rest of the world help pay for R&D.
What in your rabid mind makes you think a government who would let four people die then lie about it would be good in running how you get healthcare???? In what fucking way do bureaucrats and politicians says good for your health to you?

What in your rabid mind makes you think the Wall Street controlled wealthcare insurance cartels have any interest in your HEALTH. They are only interested in your MONEY.

WHY has the rest of the industrialized world been able to figure out what right wing turds like you CAN'T?

Hey Julie, it doesn't matter what you believe, it matters what is true, and you LIED!

"Boonstra’s old plan cost $1,100 a month in premiums or $13,200 a year, she previously told The News. It didn’t include money she spent on co-pays, prescription drugs and other out-of-pocket expenses.

By contrast, the Blues’ plan premium costs $571 a month or $6,852 for the year. Since out-of-pocket costs are capped at $5,100, including deductibles, the maximum Boonstra would pay this year for all of her cancer treatment is $11,952.

When advised of the details of her Blues’ plan, Boonstra said the idea that it would be cheaper “can’t be true.”

“I personally do not believe that,” Boonstra said.

She cannot believe this very likely because she has been fed a pack of lies by groups who want to exploit her, a woman with life-threatening leukemia, to help achieve their crass political goals."
UPDATEDx2: Koch brothers? fake ?Obamacare victim? Julie Boonstra made to look even more foolish and exploited | Eclectablog

Like most left wing rhetoric, the facts do not seem to all be there. Julie Boonstra is a mother, and that means she has a family. It also means that her last insurance plan was a family plan, and not an individual plan. Consequently, one has to compare the two plans equally.

The figures you cite do not ring true for a premier gold Blue's plan, except as a plan for an individual that does not smoke and is between forty and sixty years of age.

What are the figures for a family plan? I looked at the Michigan Blue's website, but one does not appear to be able to get that information without going through the enrollment procedure.
The reporters did their job I suspect, and she was married to a GOP party leader. Maybe her kids are on his policy?

Whatever you have, bring it. So far, I'm right.

You don't know that the reporters did any job. More than likely, the story was handed to them by a Democrat operative, and they ran with it. However, you did make a good attempt at rationalizing the obvious problem with the figures.

I hate to have to tell you this, but you also don't know that you are right. As I said, the numbers do not sound reasonable for a family plan, and unless you can show that they compared family plans, then all you have is more dishonest propaganda.

Why would her husband put the kids on a family plan, and not include her on it? The numbers are unreasonable, and that indicates the story is dishonest. It wouldn't be the first time for this bunch of clowns.

When I go to Amazon they are most happy to tell me the price of something before I committ to buy it. Obamacare website apparently doesn't. It's laughable how liberals defend this stupid ass Obamacare.

It's Obamacare that will deny expensive cancer treatments, especially for the elderly.
Good, along with a whole host of other expensive medical problems we don't have the cash for. Thanks for your service Grandpa, see you in hell.

You got ObamaCare passed and now I guess you can be totally truthful about the provision for death panels.

'Truth'? You can't handle the 'truth'...

PolitiFact | PolitiFact's Lie of the Year: 'Death panels'

Promoting advanced directives puts decisions in proper hands

It’s hard to imagine how a compassionate, family-friendly measure — a measure that ultimately respects individual rights — could be twisted so grossly into the erroneous phrase “death panels.”

But, prepare yourself for more lies and more nonsense, because President Barack Obama has decided to do the right thing — and his critics already have resorted to fear-mongering and name-calling.

The concept of advanced directives was pioneered in La Crosse, thanks to our two first-class health care institutions.

It’s a simple concept: An individual, with the help of family, should have the ultimate say in the type of end-of-life care the individual receives. The best way to do that is through a careful consultation, with family and physician, before there is a health crisis — while the individual is still capable of having a rational voice in the decision.

Too often, those decisions are made when it’s too late for the individual to make the decisions. Instead, grieving family members are left to make the decision — and at times it’s nothing more than a guess.

Would the individual want extraordinary measures taken when the end is near? Why wouldn’t we trust the individual — in advance and when thinking clearly — to make that decision?

For those who crusade for the rights of the individual, here’s the question: Why are you so opposed to the individual being able to set down on paper, with help from family and physician, the standards and wishes for end-of-life care?

La Crosse health care systems offer a model of efficiency

Medicare spent 30% less on average for each beneficiary in the La Crosse area than the national average in 2006, the most recent year for which data is available, according to the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care.

It spent 64.5% less than in Miami and 61% less than in McAllen, Texas, the two most costly areas. And it spent 23% less than in the Milwaukee area.

Dead people don't require EXPENSIVE treatment...

The 'invisible hand' is so magical, it can even heal...

The whole basis of a 'free market' is the buyer has leverage, i.e. he/she can take his/her business elsewhere. That works perfectly fine when the stakes are 'things' (cars or TV sets etc). But a person's health is not a 'thing', and the consumer's stake is their very life. An unhappy consumer can go buys a different car or TV. If a person has a life threatening illness and is denied coverage for treatment, WHAT leverage does that person have...take their business elsewhere IN ANOTHER LIFE?

. Read what the poster said how it's good Obamacare won't pay for expensive cancer treatment. That means a death panel decides that.

Obamacare will not allow doctors to prescribe new expensive drugs. That's one way they plan on saving money. It goes on all the time in Europe.

Obamacare is not insurance. My insurance is through Medical Mutual, and they cover everything that was covered in the past under previous policies. You say the dumbest shit sometimes.

You're an ignoramus. Obamacare controls what treatments and medications a doctor may prescribe.

Independent Payment Advisory Board – IPAB, which was created by the Affordable Care Act. Here’s how IPAB works:

  • 15 experts including doctors and patient advocates would be nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate to serve on IPAB.

  • IPAB would recommend policies to Congress to help Medicare provide better care at lower costs. This could include ideas on coordinating care, getting rid of waste in the system, incentivizing best practices, and prioritizing primary care.

  • IPAB is specifically prohibited by law from recommending any policies that ration care, raise taxes, increase premiums or cost-sharing, restrict benefits or modify who is eligible for Medicare.

Charming: Here we have the compassionate libturd cheering at the prospect of people dying of cancer.

How beautifully liberal!
No one is cheering but money doesn't grow on trees.

Call it what you wish but money doesn't grow on trees and we need to get the bang for our collective buck. Newborns and the elderly can cost a ton of cash that we don't have. It's brutal but it's a brutal world. We can't save everyone, we never could.
