Loyalty, duty, respect and honor are four of the Army’s core values, key traits every soldier is taught from day one in basic training. A massive group of 1,200 strangers exemplified these traits in a nondescript funeral home in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The funeral service was packed to the brim with complete strangers coming to honor a man who appears to have had no one else to pay him tribute.

Missourian, you attribute all the characteristics of Audie Murphy to a recluse you know nothing about? A Vietnam vet with 3 years active service that nobody knew? Wouldn't it have been wonderful if those 1200 'patriots' had packed his life instead of just his funeral? You cite loyalty, duty, respect and honor as key traits of EVERY soldier, and he probably exhibited those values, but a uniform does not guarantee those traits any more than motherhood makes for the perfect parent. Some of the rottenest people I know are mothers, and some are former soldiers too. May he rest in peace. But this turnout sounds a lot like a guilty community to me.
