"But if only 48 percent of third-generation Hispanic adults describe themselves as Americans first and Peruvians or Mexicans or Cubans second, can anyone say that assimilation is workin well for Hispanic immigrants? That glass is clearly not half full. Shouldn’t we expect that third-generation number to be closer to 90 percent?"

Hispanic assimilation has failed

Give it a couple generations.

The No.1 issue that Hispanic voters care about is education.

So you think the Democrats are going to win hispanic votes by their continued support for failed educational policies that create the inner city educational system?

It's already been 3 or 4 generations and they still aren't embracing their host country. The children have been attending school, but there seems more of a concern with finding Spanish speaking teachers to teach them in their native language than teaching the students how to speak English. This is what happens when illegals sneak in and have kids. They don't go through the usual process, which means learning English. I would guess they can learn that in their home country since many in those countries speak English. They just don't want to, I guess. And we shouldn't always be the ones who make the effort to communicate.

Hispanics weren't assimilated. We wouldn't have instructions for simple tools in english and spanish or directions to go to the freaking can in spanish if they assimilated. They are just here.

I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people of Spanish descent born in the US speak English...

So you think the Democrats are going to win hispanic votes by their continued support for failed educational policies that create the inner city educational system?

Do you think you are going to win by defunding public education? :cuckoo:

No. Im think we are going to win by restoring control to the local government and the individuals.

I think we will win when people understand that they have to educate themselves. Others cant do it for them.

That's correct.

Our Founding Fathers and most Americans were educated privately prior to the 1900's.

If the government would just go after the illegal employers that are hiring them, they'd go home and then Mexico would be forced to fix its own economy. It doesn't have to because their biggest economy is coming here and sending money home.

The business owners are who we should be going after. If there are no jobs, there are no illegal aliens. They only come here because someone continues to hire them. I would sneak over to Canada too if it means $200K. Wouldn't you? Why don't you sneak over to Canada? Because there are no jobs there for you. Think about it!

We have two signs on our border, one big and one little. The little one says stay out. The Big one says HELP WANTED!

Remember you sold us on the notion that they were only doing jobs Americans won't do. Remember, that was the GOP saying that.

So either you can afford private school or homeschool? :cuckoo:

So Corporations and the Rich could get tax breaks, your party has starved our local governments of funds. We are broke. I think people are ok with spending cuts until they realize your party is cutting social security, medicare and infrastructure spending so you can give rich people more tax breaks.

The 99%'ers and Occupy Wallstreet protesters get it. Too bad you don't.

Every politically controlled educational system will inculcate the doctrine of state supremacy sooner or later. . . . Once that doctrine has been accepted, it becomes an almost superhuman task to break the stranglehold of the political power over the life of the citizen. It has had his body, property and mind in its clutches from infancy. An octopus would sooner release its prey. A tax-supported, compulsory educational system is the complete model of the totalitarian state. –

We have so many illegals who come here and show nothing but disrespect for Americans. Then we hear they came for a better life, but yet they don't want to become Americans, they just want to take what they can get. Usually, immigrants want to become citizens and they respect the country they come to and assimilate. That is how they embrace us, by becoming one of us and respecting our country our laws.

It will make sure only the right people win.

Conservatism is about maintaining inequality, allowing only the truly deserving to succeed. Public education only interferes with that goal.

a. Every nationality when they first come over get picked on and have to fight. The English picked on the Irish, the Irish picked on the Italians, and so on and so on. We said the same thing about each new breed that came to America. 4 years ago you were saying it about Muslims. Now mexicans?

We went from 1 million illegals to maybe 20 million now. The corporations let them in so they could compete against American workers and it lowered wages. Mission accomplished. Go after the business owners that hire the illegals.

If maybe 2 million came in, they would have assimilated. But 20 million is like their own country. They live in their communities and never have to talk to a white person. Same with a lot of black people in the deep hood. They never talk to white people so couldn't even talk normal in an interview. They only talk street eubonics.
