I view the formation of America no differently than how empires of the past were built. Whether we are talking about the Mesopotamians, the Romans, the Spanish, the British etc the empires were built by an aggressor nation invading and defeating another nation. In my opinion that is what the Europeans did with the Indians. If you feel better about calling it "stealing", that's fine.

I'm not justifying history, I try to view events as they were in the context of the time.

As America’s first allies, the Oneida provided the Continental Army with support and troops throughout the war. Oneida warriors were often used by the Continental Army to help scout the British camps to assess their operations, especially around Fort Stanwix (also known as Fort Schuyler) in New York.

Oneida acted as spies, intercepting British communications and gathering information on troop movements and strategies. The Oneida were also helpful to the Continental Army in foraging for food and harassing British posts.

November is half over and I just heard this today. There's nothing that I see on USMB, isn't this important? What are the goals for NA communities? Water rights? Education? Crime reduction? Other?

Happy Native American Month to all Native Americans.

Hopefully, they will be given as much autonomy as possible on their reservations.

Above all, let's hope that the standard of living can be raised for all Native Americans that are living on those reservations.

In MN because of the development of Tribal Casinos, I have seen much more development follow, like new water sanitation facilities, new schools, infrastructure, parks and at a small reservation near the Twin Cities, some pretty big houses built on the reservation. Estimated monthly payments to tribal members is $80,000.

Because of the monopoly on gaming they also have a very large political lobby that protects that position from gaming being made legal outside of the reservations.

While the far northern tribes haven't seen as much income, two have used the states new law on legalization of recreational marijuana to effectively beat the state permit system to sell marijuana legally a full year ahead of anyone else.
Folks from the Twin Cities are driving 5 hours one way to purchase from them.
