If you think the Liberalism of the 1600s and 1700s has any relation to the 'liberalism' of modern America, you slept through your Poli-Sci classes back in the day.

And the Conservatism of those days don't bear any relation to the "conservatism" of modern America....so, your point would be? :eusa_eh:
Your comparison was invalid because the meaning of common words were very different three-hundred years ago. It's like reading Shakespeare with Urban Dictionary definitions.

The whole conservative ideal is to live by the principles this nation was founded on.
In 1770, the Conservative ideal was to serve King and Country. 'Conservative' and 'Liberal' are relative to the timeperiod referenced.

Yeah...like that lazy Adams and Jefferson and Madison. Lazy, immoral and unethical types.

*YOU* Don't understand...nor have you ever. So your shot here is in the dark. A couple members here explained it to you. They are correct. Pay heed.

However Conservatism here is to reign in the Government and make them adhere to the Constitution as they have gotten outta hand.

Marco had the great line. It's a second chance for republicans to be what they said they would be not so long ago.

They are on probation with me.... if they dont stick to EXACTLY what they said.... I will walk away from them, and hopefully there will be a new party.... a "T party"

Yea the People will be watching. If the Republicans revert back to their Democrat-Light routine, they'll be done again. The People don't want Democrat-Light. Those days are over.

Most of the celebrating and taunting is coming from the rabid left, claiming victory with Reid and California and a handful of other Dem wins.

And no matter what election, I would never be stupid enough to say "liberalism is dead". Liberalism an ideaology that will always be around and one that the uninformed, lazy, immoral and unethical types will gravitate to.

In fact, you clearly did just that. Sit down with a piece of paper, divide length wise into two with a pencil, then label the top Hamilton on one side and Jefferson on the other. Then label their characteristics: strong national government, states' rights; economic nationalism, yeoman agriculture; weak on civil rights, strong on civil rights -- keep going.

Uninformed comments like yours disturb those of us who think clearly and objectively. You are going to find that you are a mixture of both probably, and that classical liberalism is not dead in either party.

I like Michelle Bauchmans idea of Constitutional classes.... thats what they ALL need.

Every one of them. For Congresscritters to be questioned about something they took an Oath on to defend...and thoroughly botch it should send a chilling message about those we elect.

The Constitution has become a nuscience to them rather than a guide as it should be when in Government. Being in Government isn't Carte Blanche to do as you wish just because the people entrusted you with the mantle of power.

That is how Tyrannies are born.

*BOY*? You couldn't be objective if you were paid a King's Ransom to do so.

Not a bad idea. I think she's onto something. Constitutional Classes should probably be required. Something to think about.

Lord knows they didn't get it in Government Schools or the towers of 'Higher Learning' where the Document is disparaged and scoffed at.

I agree. It is a great idea. And they should be tested.

Fallacy of inaccurate comparison by eagle.

Ok go ahead and gloat & taunt a little. lol! No but seriously, lets not go overboard celebrating. Lets not make silly proclamations like "The Democratic Party is Dead & Buried Forever" Or "Elections have consequences,so there!" That kind of gloating & taunting is for Democrats. Lets try and be better than that. This is a great first step towards taking our country back but there is still a lot more work to be done. The Socialists/Progressives still control the Senate and the White House. So our work is definitely not done. Celebrate modestly and then get back to work. Next up,onto the Senate & White House! :)

Care to point out all the Gloating and taunting post Nov 20th 2008? I saw none on this board.

Saw a lot of "the economy is fucked due to Obama" and "life sux thanks to Obama" from the right. No gloating from the left though...

Maybe Pelosi did, but she's a whackjob at the best of time. The average Dem voter and politician? Didn't see an ounce of it...

You must have a short memory hawk.

Oh come on,are you serious? The Democrats did a whole lot of gloating & taunting after their wins a couple of years ago. All we heard was "The Republican Party is done for good" and "Elections have consequences and you lost. So shut up." Just because you didn't observe it,doesn't mean it didn't happen. It happened a lot. The Republicans shouldn't go there. Too much work still needs to be done.

So what you are saying is none of this "donkey business", eh?

Prank! GOP leaves a gift at Democratic HQ

In 1992, a life sized donkey was placed at the front door of the Republican National Committee offices. It was a fitting prank in a year when Democrats took the White House and retained majorities in the House and Senate.

Last night, Republicans got payback.

Prank! GOP leaves a gift at Democratic HQ

The "fire Pelosi" tee on the donkey was priceless though.
