Does the Modern Age inspire you to think about optimization-labyrinths?
This yarn was inspired by the civilization-rapture film Logan's Run.

Anti-American terrorists (e.g., ISIS, Cobra, Taliban) were arrayed for strikes as the modern world took shape and computers were changing commerce and contracts. There was a new 'army of darkness' --- a network of 'daredevils' who forced humanity to deal with the complexities of the 'New World Labyrinth.'
A team of patriots perhaps known as 'G.I. Joes' were devoted to the 'mystical idealism' behind capitalism and the celebration of games like Monopoly (Parker Brothers) and movies like Casino (Martin Scorsese). People were genuinely curious about the pursuit of happiness and the magic of finding 'fortune-muses' and 'mermaids of gold.'
A terrible 'psychological war' comprised this intrigue and ensuing Great Tribulation involving everyday consumers and social leaders/icons wrestling to understand/appreciate the basic fear behind this modern civilization development of incredible networking and technologies. If you weren't up-to-speed with NASDAQ, you were essentially a dinosaur. This Great Tribulation involved the 'subliminal militancy' of idealists vying with terrorism-minded antagonists (e.g., ISIS).
American scientists developed plans for super-nuclear submarines and powerful Internet algorithms capable of blocking out terrorist-hackers. The fear was now biochemical terrorism and cyber-network security destabilization. The ingenuity of the modern age was the intricacy of efficiency-based and convenience-based designs geared to enhance mobility (and bite).
A demonic multi-headed dragon named Tiamat rose from the abyss of darkness and spewed terrible flames of fire and smoke and poison and ice. Tiamat condemned human civilization for its industrial excesses, computer vanities, and eco-pollution. Tiamat despised Gordon Gekko and IBM and wanted Americans to feel insecure about the anti-commerce 'legacy' of 9/11.
As with any Great Tribulation, there are diligent bureaucratic civil servants tirelessly working to keep proper records and accounts of all the symbolic developments of progressive civilization. These civil servants cared about Geico.com, Amazon.com, and CNN.com. Without these civil servants, there would be much less clarity regarding the navigating of these modern traffic-gauged 'rails.'
A young prince/crusader named Alas was busy in Europe searching for the Satanic Nine Gates to the Kingdom of Shadows, so he could invoke the spirit of the Devil to create fortune and fame for himself. Alas instead found an eerie beast called the Mecha-Minotaur (MM) who was hiding in the ruins of an abandoned castle and its maze-like hallways in Italy. Alas realized that MM wanted to lure men towards it and then devour them. The modern world was therefore much about 'risk consciousness.'
American imagineers and toy-designers marketed colourful and wondrous modernism-savvy toys such as see-through water-guns and see-through wrist-watches, while computer industry pioneers (e.g., Steve Jobs) developed see-through computers (iMac) for general consumerism. There was a great spirit of mechanization-discovery, so everyone wanted to feel like they were 'keeping pace' with all this 'gelatinous imagination.'
As the 'G.I. Joes' created their personal/private 'family-crest' signifying their modernism quest for the defense of civil liberties and democratic capitalism, President Trump commended the Joes for the symbolic splendour of this amazing crest, which revealed prioritization of codes/keys, colors/balance, and monarchy/governance. This 'Joe Crest' was like the new Stonehenge --- and it was purely American.
American 'media diplomats' such as celebrities and Internet-bloggers were chatting about the value of socialization in the age of consumerism and the role of open discourse in this new civilization atmosphere of pluralism, traffic, and of course, democracy. These 'media diplomats' were something like 'civilization knights' and Hollywood (USA) made movies representative of their new age importance such as Maniac Cop, Hackers, Celebrity, Coming to America, and Minority Report.
GOD: The Joe Crest is very important.
SATAN: Yes, it is...
GOD: Perhaps celebrities and Internet-fans have to be 'priests.'
SATAN: Democracy is very complex!
GOD: This 'net-devil' is a real menace...
SATAN: Yes, it's confounding being prodded to be 'fast.'
GOD: It's risky being slow in the age of Internet.
SATAN: There's little pity...
GOD: What are the daydreams in the age of machinery?
SATAN: Hmm, well there are plenty of modernism video-games.
GOD: Sure. Tron, Ratchet and Clank, Q-bert, Mega Man, X-Men.
SATAN: I love it when they make movie adapted video-games (X-Men).
